Dear Diary,

It's the first day of the first year! I just recently found out I was a witch! Can you imagine how excited I truly am!? I'm on the platform, right now of nine and three quarters! Did you even know they had a platform named that!? I can't, honestly, contain my excitement! Well the train is here! I'll try to write on the way to school, but I'm not sure if I can! I might get to excited!

Well, good bye for now!

Love,
Lexi

I laughed re-reading my diary. That was my first year at Hogwarts. About five years ago, since then I've changed so much. I've gone from the excited new-be, to the sophisticated person I am now. That was also the day I met my new best friend, Avery. She's a werewolf, like Remus. But she's so much more different than him, just in personality alone! When we first bumped into each other, I remember it well; we were in the mess hall, being sorted into houses. She was huge compared to me! At eleven I towered the other students at 5'6, but she towered over my by four inches! Of course, she hasn't grown since then, and I've had two growth spurts. I remember looking up to her to apologize, but the glare she held on me was fearsome. I had only grinned and apologized. Her face softened and a small smile crossed her face. Little did I know that night was a full moon, and something was about to change our friendship completely. I had followed her around all day, I'm not sure why, I was just drawn to her energy. She was so; mature for being eleven, like she had something to hide! I wanted to know what that something was! I found out that night. I had followed her as she ran into the woods, boy am I glad I'm an animagi, I had been frozen in my steps as her bones had started to pop and crack and break. I didn't have any idea of what was happening, until it was finished. In just a matter of moments, the girl in front of me had turned into...into a monster! I remember thinking it was awesome, until she turned and glared at me, hunger had coated her eyes. I shook in my place, and out of reflex I forced myself to change into the small fox. I had Tonks make a potion just for me to turn into a fox; I had never dreamed it would be so useful. She had stopped and just sniffed me.

I smiled at Avery, who I now sat by in every class, she hasn't changed much, but she has become more open with me. For that much, even if it seems like a little, I am glad. We are closer than any friends could be, she refuses to trust anyone else, and she's like a personal body guard for me! Anyone who attempts to mess with me, in any way, she handles them! The whole school is terrified of her, just because her height is extremely intimidating, though she's only one inch taller than me, she's a good nine inches taller than the shortest person our age. But when you get to know her and she trusts you, she has a heart of gold; she just doesn't know how to show it. I watched as she wrote down her notes on her paper, I would borrow them later; I never played attention in class. But she always lets me borrow her notes to copy them into my notebook, another thing I'm thankful for.

I sighed doodling on my paper, I may not be as good of an artist as Avery but I think I'm still pretty good! Avery let out a grunt as she stared at the teacher, annoyance written all over her face. I put my hand over my mouth to contain a giggle; her eyes suddenly glance from the teacher down on me. I averted my gaze immediately and looked down, her hard glare stayed on me. I would fuss at her about it after class.
