"Do you love me?" she asked.
He just laughed it off assuming she was just playing games.
"HARM! Do you love me or not?" she asked again, a little demanding for his answer this time.
"Why do you ask that?"
She raised her eyebrows, still waiting for his answer. "Well, do you love me or not?"
"Maaac, you know the answer to that question."
"I just want to hear it from you. Hearing it from you justifies your honesty."
"Do you doubt me?"
"Just answer the question, counselor."
"I do have a right to ask question too, you know."
"You will have your turn. Now answer me, do you love me or not?"
"You are so unbelievable." He laughed at that statement before continuing, "Yes, I love you Sarah Mackenzie-Rabb." He cupped her face and placed a kiss on her forehead.
"My turn, why did you ask that?"
Mac bent her head slightly to the side. Uneasy to answer his question. "I'm worried about you…about us. Since I took the leave, you're always arriving late at home. Plus, you look preoccupied at night. I just thought another woman has been on your mind."
Harm smiled to himself. He seldom sees this side of Mac. "If I tell you the truth, will you get mad at me and throw me out of our home?"
Mac locked her hurtful eyes on Harm. He has another woman, she thought. "Just be honest to me, Harm."
"Well, it is true. I have been thinking of another girl everyday, not just every night…" He trailed off when he saw the noticeable bewilderment on Mac's face.
A girl? He doesn't want me anymore because he wants someone younger? Mac asked herself.
He got up from the bed and went to their closet. When he went back he had a box wrapped in a pastel pink and blue colored wrapper. He sat again on the bed next to Mac and gave the box to her. "Open it…"
She had been keeping her tears at bay. Every emotion came rushing through her. She wanted to cry it out when he admitted he had been thinking of another girl. When he trailed off he went to get a box, probably a gift…from her girl. But why would he want me to open it for him? She thought. She hesitantly took the box from him. While tearing the wrapper little by little, her tears streamed down her face. When she was finished with the wrapper, she found the box embossed with, My Girl, between two red roses. She looked up on Harm and he just nodded for her to go on. She opened the box carefully. There inside, a framed collage of pictures of her and Harm together. And in the middle of the collage was an ultrasound picture of their first baby. She was so overwhelmed she was not able to utter a single word.
"Remember, when we went to the doctor to check on the baby? I took home the ultrasound picture. Mac, I'm sorry, I just can't wait to know if it's a girl or boy. I know you don't want to know it until the baby's time to come out. I just can't help it."
Their eyes were streaming with tears, tears of joy. "I thought you replaced me with a younger woman." Mac said and they both chuckled.
"Now you know, you should be threatened on her arrival. She will be the apple of my eyes. And you will be second on my attention." Harm smiled at her.
"I'll remember that, flyboy…"
RR please...thanks!
