Thank you to Raihu whose tale 'Minotaur' partially inspired this poem.

Spoken in the different voices of the characters, beginning with the Faun.

"Darkfall. Do we dream

of black soft petals brushing

velvet fingers 'cross your cheek.

Bedtime. Sleep, shall we

beneath the dying sky

And forget the surreal past

down, down deep into the

maze where you were born, the

deserted womb"

"Forgive me, their tiny

crushed silver bodies

lie useless in my hands.

Eyes. Red eyes

blinking in clawed hands

Crushing my spirit and white, white

skin stretched over ghastly

bald visage, why

Couldn't I find the key to the horror

that lies in my soul?"

"Monstrous fat baby

bathed in bloody milk

to save her child?

I feel the little witch's

futile anger. Oh how

foolish the pale child

To think that she might sneakily

Supplant herself in her

weak mother's heart,

in my place.

Turn your face, darling child

- betrayer!

Betrayers, all of them,

in the forest.

Come my prey

I shall hunt

you

down."

"No no you

shall not have him

I shall spirit him

away.

Come my dear love,

My flesh, my blood.

Taste my breath

for it speaks of faith:

Let us fall to the sweet

earth together;

But you will live.

Yes, you will live

Say goodbye, dear one.

Red fills my eyes

Red fills my chest

I see the labyrinth.

I see..."
