A/N: So this is probably James around fifth year, and he's just started to like Lily. I was inspired by the line from the song "Girl Inform Me."

By the way, I'm starting to look into posting stories on other fanfiction websites, so check my profile for updates on that!

Disclaimer: The characters belong to J.K. Rowling, and the song belongs to The Shins

"Unknown quotients, you must be using potions…" "Girl Inform Me," The Shins

Lily Evans must have slipped me a love potion.

It's the only plausible explanation. I mean, she is great at potions, so brewing one would be no problem for her. And besides, what Hogwarts girl wouldn't want me to be in love with her?

Not that I am. In love with Evans, I mean. I'm James Potter, after all. I don't fall in love. I make girls fall in love with me. Which is exactly why Lily Evans brewed a love potion. Because she is clearly in love with me, and wants me to be in love with her too.

Except I'm not.

But really, it's the only way to explain these feelings I'm having. I mean, I get all nervous around her. I never get nervous. And then, in classes, I stare at her for the whole period! I mean, it's not as if I'd rather pay attention to the teacher, but still, why her? She's not exactly the prettiest girl in school or anything. Although, that hair color is amazing. And her eyes are this really cool shade of green. And when she smiles she has this dimple in her left cheek. And her body… Okay, so she's freaking gorgeous. But still, it's not like she's even my type. And she's always studying, so clearly she's no fun! Well, I mean, not always. I remember last month when it snowed and Herbology was cancelled, and there was a Gryffindor-wide snowball fight. She has a really good arm. She pegged Sirius right in the back of the head, and I laughed at him for about ten minutes. Then we were all heading back inside, and she was smiling, and her cheeks were bright pink… she looked so pretty. And then there was the-

"Can I help you?"

Lily was looking at me, a slightly annoyed expression on her face. She's probably just annoyed that her love potion didn't work.

"Sorry, what?"

"You were staring at me. Did you need something?"

"I wasn't staring at you," I covered quickly.

"Whatever," she said, turning back to her notes.

She so loves me.

Not that I love her. I'm James Potter. I don't fall in love. That would be insane! That would be absurd! That would be… Evans's skirt inching up her thigh! Oh sweet Merlin, she just crossed her legs, and her skirt fell a little bit. I must thank the genius that designed these uniforms.
