Sonic chuckles to himself as he helps a sleepy, pajama-clad Elise out of her study, before scooping her up and lightly jogging to their room.

"So, what was it this time?" He asks amiably as they make their way through the castle. "Another announcement, the council needing your assistance, or...?"

Given that Elise is almost half asleep and nuzzling his shoulder affectionately, it takes her a while to answer. "There...there was a shipment I wanted to oversee and I kinda got a...a liiiiitle carried away."

"Seems like it," Sonic replies as he arrives at their door. He manages to let go of Elise long enough to unlock it and nudges his way inside, setting her on the bed gently before removing his shoes and climbing in with her.

Elise is the first to pull him into a hug, giggling a little to herself as he fits into her embrace.

"I love you," she mumbles as she cuddles him to her side. Sonic resists the urge to laugh; Elise's always been more affectionate when she's sleepy. It's adorable. "I love you soooo much."

"Love you too," he replies, gently removing her barattes and watching the previously pinned-back hair swish around her ears. His hand moves to cup her face gently, and she smiles sleepily, pressing her own against the back of his.

Sonic laughs to himself as he frees himself from her hug in order to wrap her up in his embrace, hugging around her waist and pressing his forehead into the crook of her neck.

"This's nice," Elise mumbles, and Sonic rubs her back comfortingly before she raises his left hand with hers.

"I always...I always wondered how I was able to fit in your arms so easily," Elise murmurs as she presses their palms together.

Sonic just shrugs. "It's just 'cause I have big hands."

"Good," Elise says, scooting forwards to kiss him soundly. "That just means there's more of you to love."

Sonic breaks put into a sheepish, lopsided smile, kisses her goodnight, and falls asleep against her chest, listening to her heartbeat.
