"Jaime, where are we going?" Sara giggled as Jaime held her hand and pulled her somewhere.
"Shh, keep your eyes closed, we're almost there." He smiled and continued guiding his beautiful girlfriend. He quickly stopped her, stepped in front of her and kissed her on the lips.
"Okay, take off the blindfold."
She removed the piece of clothe and gasped.
"Jaime!" She smiled big and kissed him again. It was a picnic on the edge of a small river, the river her father use to take her to when she was a kid. She hopped over to the red checkered blanket and took off her flats. She straightened out her petite sundress and sat down with her legs out in front of her. Jaime quickly joined her.
"Today we have all of your favorites" He opened the picnic basket revealing just that, her favorite foods. "PB&J sandwiches, strawberries, and vanilla shakes." He handed her her shake and grabbed out the rest, setting it down on the blanket. He then pulled out a bouquet of sunflowers.
She lightly wiped her mouth and took the flowers from him, sticking her nose in the middle.
"Mmmm." Her eyes were closed and Jaime smiled.
"Happy anniversary baby." Jaime leaned in and gave her another peck on the lips. She smiled as she stared at the trees and river in front of her.
Just as they started on their sandwiches it started to sprinkle.
"Shit!" Jaime started gathering the stuff and throwing it back in the basket when Sara placed her hand on his.
"No, it's okay." She leaned back on her hands and lifted her head to the sky. She closed her eyes and embraced the drops of water falling around her. Jaime stared at her in awe. How on earth did he find such a wonderful person? He still wasn't sure, but he was sure he was the luckiest person on earth.
They finished their lunches and danced in the rain a bit. They twirled and twisted. They kissed and embraced each other. Before they knew it, the sun started to set. Sara gasped and ran over to the edge of the river, siting down and smiling up at the sun. She looked behind her and motioned for Jaime to sit beside her, patting the ground and looking back up. Jaime happily obliged.
Jaime looked at her. How happy and beautiful she looked at this moment. He wanted more memories like this. When the sun had just about set he lifted her off the ground and held her hand.
"Come on, I want to show you something before it gets dark." He pulled her around the corner and a half a mile upward. He stopped them in front of a big, gorgeous waterfall. The water was soft looking and there were critters and flowers all around. She walked up to the edge of the water and looked at the waterfall, smiling.
"Oh Jaime, this has been, the best day of my life."
Jaime didn't say anything, he walked over to her and turned her to face him. He smiled at her and grabbed her hand, slowly lowering himself onto one knee.
"Sara-" She threw her hands up to her mouth and was already tearing up. "I love you so, so much, I couldn't ever imagine my life without you, I want to spend the rest of my life with you. You're my one and only, forever. So Sara…" He pulled out a tiny ring box and let go of her hand, opening it gently. "Sara, will you marry me?"
She nodded quickly and pulled him up to her face, kissing him hard and crying. She let him go and he put the ring on her finger. She held it out and looked at it then looked at him. She smiled big and hugged him tightly.
"Happy anniversary." He whispered. She just smiled and kissed him softly once more.
