Axel stifled a yawn as he knocked on the door labeled with a roman numeral II, rolling his tired eyes at the grunted 'hold on' he received. The red head was in no mood to be playing messenger boy, but had been too tired to protest when approached by his Superior; so now here he was, waiting at Xigbar's door to tell him whatever even though he knew there was another's room he should be visiting.

Axel had been too haunted by his words last night to sleep, the fight seeming to replay in his head nonstop.

"You spend more time with him than me- you know how shallow that is? A younger, cuter blonde comes along and I'm left in the dust!"

Axel sighed, glaring at his superior's door impatiently, not wanting to be left alone with memories of last night any longer. He knew it was Demyx's door he should be knocking on, but he was putting off trying to mend the problem- Demyx was right, after all, he had been falling for Roxas since the boy had joined their ranks, meaning soon the red head would have to be making a choice he had been avoiding for weeks now.

Finally the door cracked open to reveal half a man clad only in a pair of plaid pajama pants, looking less than pleased at having been interrupted. Axel quickly shoved thoughts of Demyx aside, having always somewhat disliked the man before him and wanting to get this over with as quickly as possible.

"I have a message from Superior."

Axel made no attempt to hide how little he wanted to be there, too tired and too preoccupied to be playing mail man. Xigbar eyed Axel with something the red head couldn't interperate before raising the one eyebrow visable from behind the door, seemingly amused to see Axel doing something so menial.

"Oh? What's he want?"

Axel sighed, running a hand through his hair as he relayed

"He says he wants to meet with you, and that you're already an hour late."

"Xigbar?"

Axel froze at the familiar voice and looked over his elder's shoulder into the messy room behind him to see Demyx sitting up in a sea of sheets and pillows; he seemed only half conscious, rubbing at half lidded eyes with one hand and pulling a shirt too big to be his own up over his otherwise bare shoulder. Axel could feel fire bubbling up in the pit of his stomach as he took in the scene- Demyx, disheveled blonde locks, bare chest and all, sleepily beckoning Xigbar back to bed and acting like he was a stranger.

"Go back to sleep, tiger, this'll just take a sec."

Xigbar was smirking at the angry red head in front of him as he spoke over his shoulder, well aware how the scene behind him looked. Axel wanted to punch the grinning man in front of him, feeling like the butt of some terrible joke. Finally, Xigbar addressed him again as if nothing had happened.

"You tell Xemnas I'll be there in a few- guess I lost track of time this morning…"

The older man was drinking in the fire in his inferior's eyes as the weight behind his words sunk in.

"What the hell is going on!"

Axel demanded, unable to believe what was happening- one little fight and he gets tossed aside? One little fight and now Demyx is waking up next to Xigbar? The older nobody smirked, stepping back into his room.

"I don't know what you're talking about."

He taunted before closing the door in the red head's face. Axel stood there, seething, before storming off.

Guess this decision won't be as difficult as I thought.

Axel thought bitterly to himself. Him and Demyx were over.
