Sitting on the edge of his bed silently, he showed a slight smile on his face as his Pikachu jumped up on his lap. He reached behind him and grabbed a blanket and placed it over Pikachu's body, so that it covered the creature completely and made it look like a dumpling. "Pika, pika!" the Pikachu shook its head and tossed the blanket to the ground. Feeling warmer after witnessing his Pikachu's cute actions, he let his face return back to its usual dead-pan expression. "Up…" he said softly, which Pikachu promptly responded to by scurrying off of his lap and onto the corner of the bed. Red walked over to a window of his cabin on Mt. Silver. Nobody ever visited, and nobody ever cared. Every now and then a challenger would come, but as soon as they lost, they'd leave. Each and every one of them only cared about beating him; beating the strongest trainer. He couldn't recall a time when someone had come up to Mt. Silver just to see him. Getting down to town took half a day, so he only went down when he needed to. "Ah… I need more hyper potions," he noted, glancing back at the now sleeping figure of Pikachu.
He walked back towards his small kitchen and made himself a cup of hot chocolate. Grabbing his mug in one hand, he walked out the door. Despite it being the middle of August, it was still snowing. Dully, he looked around through the falling snow. It was a little harsh, but he could make it down without any help from his Pokémon, he decided. "I guess nobody really does care…" he pensively commented to himself. It was fifteen minutes into the trek down the mountain-top, so he assumed that he was imaging it when he saw several multi-colored heads bobbing in the distance. As he got closer to them, he was able to make out smiling faces. "Red!" Blue screamed, running towards him. In shock of her appearance, he stood there, mouth agape. He dropped his mug in the snow and hot chocolate spilled everyone. Taken aback by his sudden action, Blue faltered in her steps and then came to a stop several feet away from him. Smiling softly, she laughed. "Red, happy birthday!" Everyone was standing behind her in a clustered group. "A-Ah…" Red felt his face flushing bright pink. Green walked over to him, noticing his strange facial expression. "Eh, what's wrong Red? Can't you see we came to celebrate your birthday! Come on, let's go to your house" he said cheerily, amused by the rare expressions that Red was showing.
Without warning, tears began to flow down his cheeks. Embarrassed, Red raised one of his arms over his eyes and turned away from everyone. "R-Red…" Blue exclaimed, unsure of what to do for a second. Quickly she made up her mind and jumped on Red so that they both fell into the snow. Smiling warmly now, the tears stopped flowing. He was so blithe he wasn't sure how to contain his emotions. The rest of the group began to run towards him and they all incoherently screamed the same thing. "Happy birthday!"
