Roy Mustang was hopelessly in love. Insanely, crazy in love; he couldn't stop looking at her. Even now, when she was fast asleep, he watched over her, feeling a fierce stirring in his heart.
Everything about her was perfect. Her hands, curled into a fist by her face, were shapely and delicate. Her face was beautiful, with big brown eyes that would open in the morning and a sweet pair of lips that stretched into a smile whenever he walked into the room.

"Roy, she's asleep. She doesn't even know you're there." Riza said from behind him, and he turned to look at his wife. A smile was on her lips, and he could see the features that she had passed down to their daughter: the smile, the curve of her ears, and, most importantly, the beautiful brown eyes, which he could never get enough of.
"Still, I like watching her sleep." Roy reached out to Riza, and she stepped into his embrace. He buried his face in her hair and breathed in her scent. "Thank you." he whispered. Riza turned to him with a questioning look in her eyes, and opened her mouth to ask him something.
A sudden cry made them both jump. Roy let go of his wife and was there in an instant, reaching into the cradle. "Hush little one, shhh, your mommy and daddy are right here." He held her up against his chest, rocking slowly back and forth. Riza came to him, putting her hand on his shoulder. She peered into the face of their daughter, and Roy was once again caught by the similarities between their faces.

When she was sleeping again, Roy carefully set her back in the cradle. Riza slipped her arm around him. He leaned into her. "Come to bed?" she asked. He nodded, and they both crept out of the room.
Crawling into bed next to him, Riza laid her head on his chest and sighed contentedly. "Hey." Roy greeted her.
"Hey. So, you never did tell me what you were thanking me for."
"Oh yeah, I believed we were interrupted."
Riza lifted her head to look him in the eye. "Well?"
Roy smirked. "I was merely thanking you."
"For. . .?"
"For giving me my daughter, of course."
Riza smiled and kissed him. "You're welcome."
