This isn't really a story, more like the ramblings of a rambler.
The characters are pretty obvious, if you've read Deathly Hallows. If you haven't, well, it's still pretty clear.
Oh, right[DH Spoilers
And this is a fanfiction web, people. So no disclaimer needed :D
Love.
It was the shade of her dark red hair, cascading down her elegant shoulders, was a note, high-strung in her lofty voice, was a strut in her long strides.
Love.
The word had embraced him tenderly, like a toasty warm blanket lying across his icy-cold shoulders. She melted off the coldness of his ways, like a merry little fire, dancing bright and cheery in the fireplace. She was the light of his life, kindling his spirits, thawing out his aloofness, and all his ice and bitter words were swept away by the river down by Spinner's End, the shore they shared. It was like magic.
He snorted. That was the only word he could think of? Magic. It was more than just possible. It was more than twisted in their beings, it was their lives. They breathed to be wizards and witches, so saying it was magic, would be saying it was just… ordinary. And she was anything but.
Yet as the years passed, they weren't on the same side of the river anymore. After seeing no acceptance, neither at home or school, the two places he lived, slipped on the riverbank and into the river. He had taken the wooden paddle of seclusion they had sworn to never take. The paddle that would push them apart in their friendship. He had chosen the rough waters, the Dark side. And she stood at the shore, calling him back. Day after day, making excuses for him, persuading him to hurry back. But he never did, instead journeying farther and farther across the thrashing river, until she couldn't see him anymore. He'd gone back to the winter chill, the shadowy life. And there was nothing she could do about it.
Years passed, and he realized how much he missed. He missed her emerald green eyes, sparkling with mischief, how her laughter rang out contagiously, and most, how she lit the fire of his very soul, from the day he met. But peering across the very river he had journeyed over to elude her jovial ways, he now saw her holding onto another man – the very one who had made him turn back to the frost, the bully who had tormented him through his school years, taking him bit by bit – the little confidence she had given him, the spells he had invented, the glory the professors bestowed, and now, what was at the very heart of his soul – his laughing fire, who defrosted his seclusion. The man, who had destroyed his childhood, would now be destroying the rest of his life.
He left for Bellatrix's. The Dark side was now his permanent home. She would teach him to forget fire, laughter, and most importantly, love.
Told you it was rambly...
