Shikamaru...ASUMA WHY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Ok i had this fic on hold for a while but because of certain events ive decided to post it...one last tributeish thing I guess. Figures I decide to put him in a fic and he goes off and...uh...you know...

As you can see I'm incredibly lazy, wrote this story ages ago and am now posting it up.

"What the hell, do I seriously have to accept?"

Asuma reached forward and punched him lightly on the shoulder. "Come on what's with that reaction! Most people would consider this an honor." Shikamaru gave him a withering look and rubbed his shoulder absentmindedly "It's a pain in the ass and I don't want to do it."

His sensei leaned back, a small smirk worked its way across his face "that's cute Shikamaru saying that like you had a choice."

"….I don't?"

"Nope!" Asuma's smirk turned into a full fledged smile "you're the official judge of this year's chunnin exam!" Shikamaru groaned "would you stop saying that. Honestly it absolutely makes no sense for me to be the judge I'm completely under qualified." Asuma scratched his chin thoughtfully "well to put it lightly you're pretty lazy, stubborn, and a complete smart ass."

"That's lightly?"

"So what better way for you to waste time than to watch a bunch of little genins beat the crap out of each other?"

"Doing nothing."

"Think about Shikamaru anyway you look at it you're actually the perfect choice."

"Are you ignoring me?"

"It's settled. Meet the Hokage tomorrow after you're done with your office work."

"You're actually going to stand there and ignore me."

Asuma lifted his hand in a farewell gesture "I got to go now Shikamaru good luck and do your best!" A snort of irritation was all Asuma received for his efforts. He smiled and as he began walking away raised his voice and called over his shoulder "oi and Shikamaru!"

He glared at him and frowned "what now."

"…I'm proud of you…"

Shikamaru blinked and than felt his face flush slightly with embarrassment "erm…thanks."

"Don't screw up in front of a bunch of genins alright?

"Thanks sensei I got it."

"A bunch of a chunnins and Jounins are probably going to start placing bets on how long you'll last so try not embarrass yourself in front of them either alright?"

"Alright, alright I got it."
