A/N: I apologize if I screw up on the name translations but I'm not used to typing their names yet. Oh and I would like to add for those of you who are not a huge fan of OCs that Ava isn't a major character in the story and she will have faults like all of the other characters. And if you are not familiar with my style of writing, please expect the unexpected.
It all starts with a random text message, followed by a phone call and an unwanted plan being forged. Thats all it takes to ruin the shrunken detective's other wise pretty OK day.

Hey Kudo! Hows it going? I miss you!
Conan blinked as he looked down at Shinichi's cellphone and tried to think back to who might this message be from. When no answer came to mind, he was quick to respond to the text.
Shinichi
Um... Who is this again?
Seconds after he had sent this text, he had gotten his answer, and he didn't know rather he should feel happy, shocked, scared, or over all annoyed by it.

Oop! Sorry! I forgot, you probably don't have my number yet. Anyway, its your cuz Ava!
Ava Tegakari; Shinichi Kudo's maternal cousin as well as his childhood rival. The two used to spend every afternoon at Ava's house, trying their hands at figuring out the culprit of their comic book's crime senerio before they turned the page, but that isn't what they rivaled over. No, what made them rivals was always Ava's head over Shinichi, which often lead to cruel taunts about him being her 'Little cousin', despite him being a whole five months older than her.
When the two grew up, they eventually grew out of their childish antics and soon drifted apart, where they soon lost contact with each other for almost four years now. Wondering what Ava wanted now, and to avoid confusion later on, Conan quickly entered her name into his contacts list, and then, after changing his voice with his bow-tie, he gave the girl a quick call.
"Hey Shinichi!" Ava's voice greeted him happily when she finally picked up.
"Hello Ava." Conan retorted somewhat dryly but then quickly cleared his throat. "How are things? Its been what... Four years now?"
"Things are going pretty well over here in Osaka." Ava replied, that one sentence quickly grabbing Conan's attention. "And it sure has, but you made it pretty hard to get ahold of you. You never gave me your number."
"So how did you get this number anyway?" Conan asked quickly, cutting off his younger cousin.
"Long story, but to make it short. A friend of mine from school apparently is good friends with you as well so he gave me your number." Ava explained, causing Conan's blood to run a bit cold.
"Let me guess. Did that friend happen to be named Heiji?" Conan asked bluntly, silently cursing the male's name.
"That would be the one. But anyway, I have some news for you." Ava said smoothly, the sound of crunching fabric giving away the movement of her phone from one shoulder to the other.
A loud beep sounded on her end suddenly, followed by what sounded to be static and several muffled voice's. It was killer on the small boy's ears but he was a tad concerned of what had happened.
"Ava? What just happened?" Conan asked into the phone when the sounds stopped abruptly.
"Sorry about that, just dropped my phone." Ava quickly responded. "Stuff like that happens when you're on a train."
"I can imagine. Now whats your news?" The short male pressed, tapping his foot on the carpeted floor somewhat impatiently.
"Well, theres a detective convention in your area this week so we're taking a little trip for our spring break." Ava began but was suddenly cut off by an all to familiar voice.
"Hey Kudo! Your phone gets pictures right?" Heiji's voice yelled into the speaker, causing Conan to fall back in surprise.
"Wait! Heiji's there with you?" Conan exclaimed, ignoring the tan teen's question.
The call was dropped an a few seconds later another text message was sent. It was from Ava. The photo was of two teens, a male with black spiky hair, dark skin, blue eyes and wearing a dark blue T-shirt and a backwards baseball cap. Standing beside him was a pale female, with clouded silver-blue eyes with medium brown/black hair, wearing a blue corset like top and a black uniform jacket over it with a matching ribbon in her hair. The two were standing under a sign but had angled it just right so that it looked like they were holding it up with one of their hands while the other flashed the peace sign. It was what the sign said that made Conan's blood freeze.
Welcome to Tokyo, Japan
A second text was suddenly sent.
Ava
Can't wait to see you cuz! Be in your area in about three hours :P
Conan glared at his phone and growled lowly at the message. This had to be the evil planning of Heiji. Yes, that's what it was one.
"Ugh... I can fake being Shinichi for Ran... But that's only for a short while over the phone! Not for an actual visit!" He groaned and slapped his face hard, effectively knocking one of the nose pieces from his fake glasses. "What am I going to do now..."
He sunk down against the seat of the fallen over chair and began to think. Looking up at the window, he saw a full moon nearing and that's how he got his idea. Pulling out his cell phone again, he quickly dialed in a phone number and waited patiently as the phone rang. Once, twice, three times-
"Hello?" A male's voice asked.
"Hey Kid, um... Can I ask a favor?" Conan snapped into the phone quickly.
He could almost hear the other's amused smirk on the other end of the phone.
"Sure shorty, what is it?" The voice asked again.
"I need to borrow your body for a weekend." The boy suddenly face palmed when he realized how awkward that sounded.
"What the hell are you asking?" Apparently he wasn't the only one to find this awkward.
"I need your help to pull something off." He muttered, looking out the window again and began to explain his situation.
All while doing this, he tried to think of the perfect revenge for Heiji.
After Ava sent that photo attachment to her cousin, she clicked off her phone and turned to Heiji. Said male was leaning against a metal pipe that marked the parking spaces of the lot and was patiently waiting for his friend to give him the word.
"Okay." She called over to him, shrugging her back pack back onto her shoulders and walking over to him. "We can go now."
Heiji looked up at her and leaned forward until he was fully standing again. The whole train-ride for some reason seemed to have drained him of his earlier seen pep. With a soft huff he stepped forward and stretched himself out.
"Took you long enough." He groaned, taking her wrist in his hand and leading her away.
"It only took me a minute." Ava reminded him, trying to tug her hand away from him. "Not that you would know."
Heiji rolled his eyes and felt the dead weight of his equally dead phone in his jacket pocket. Being the fast packer he was, he overlooked the fact that his cellphone charger was next to his suitcase when he left. Also, being that Ava was now his only means of time without his phone, she was right because he wouldn't know. That wasn't the worst part about his dead phone though. The worst part was that he randomly left for Tokyo, Japan with a young woman of the same age and he now couldn't text Kazuha updates so she knew what was going on. It was times like this he wished he had let her tag along with them, but no he had to take only Ava along with him.
"Okay, yeah, because I'm an idiot." Heiji replied dryly, turning his attention back to his dark haired companion. "Now come on, its getting late."
"Not an idiot. Just dense." Ava laughed while casually brushing her bangs away from her face, "Which will come in handy when Kazuha kicks your arse next week."
"Ha~ Funny." He shot a deadly glare at the female and continued to drag her along behind him.
Again, its times like this he wished they had brought Kazuha. It would have resulted in a less painful (but still painful) experience. At least with her there then she could silently judge his friends at his side instead of doing it verbally (and very loudly) when they got back home. Fact was fact though, they didn't because bugging Kudo was their inside joke and the detective work she wouldn't really have been interested in and now she was probably at home pissed off and waiting there for him with a broomstick or some other blunt object. He was frightened of the thought and then simply shook it off for the time being.
"You know, you two make a really cute husband/wife couple." An accented voice said, coming from behind the pair.
Heiji inwardly cringed at the comment. Not because the thought of Kazuha as if wife actually scared him, but because he knew that voice anywhere. Meanwhile Ava, who was unfamiliar with the newcomer, turned around to face him. The male in question looked to be about their age and had blonde colored hair. In a bizarre fashion statement, he wore a Sherlock Holmes styled getup that would have looked silly on anybody else but on him, he was able to pull it off.
"Fancy seeing you here, Hakuba." Heiji mumbled, not even bothering to turn to face the other as his female friend had done.
Ava rose an eyebrow at the familiar sounding name. She had heard of Saguru Hakuba before, mainly from Heiji, who had described him as being a detective teen just like the two of them. She watched as the other laughed off Heiji's seemingly bitter attitude towards him and approached the two. Both him and Ava had taken to study the other's physical appearance in the time it took him to walk over and with both of them having an eye for detail, had learned quite a lot about each other in the short time (save for a name). Heiji took care of the introductions.
"Oh yeah, Hakuba this is Tegakari, vise versa." Heiji said, crossing to the girl and clapping a hand on her shoulder. "My version of a female Watson."
"No offense Heiji, but you're the Watson." Ava said, more so in an attempt to keep her own pride, when in reality she saw Heiji as an equal.
The three shared a canned laugh before turning serious (as serious as they could get) again. Since it was once in a blue moon that the members of this odd group should meet in the same place, they were all curious as to what their counterparts were doing.
"So what brings you here?" Saguru asked, this question more so pointed to Harley.
"We're here to visit and annoy the hell out of Shinichi Kudo." Heiji answered simply, "And you-"
This was a stupid question but it was asked out of reflex. Actually, the more he thought about it, the more he found that it wasn't that stupid. What the hell was Saguru doing here, at a train station at 8 at night, waiting in a parking lot.
"Actually, truth be told, I was waiting for you two." Well that much should have been obvious, but the question still remained of, why?
"What for?" Ava rose another eyebrow up to match the other.
He wordlessly reached into his cloak pocket and withdrew a file stamped 1412. and handed it to Heiji.
"I'll explain on the way. Come on, my ride is just over there." With that being said, the blonde walked between the two and headed in the direction of a silver car.
The travelers cast each other curious gazes but followed after him anyway, figuring their trip to Shinichi's would have to be put on hold for now.
