A/N Hi. This is my first story, so I'm a little nervous… please review. Sorry for the short chapter. I know, it's probably bad. But please read and review.
To clear stuff up, Laurel is an OC who is 13. She is unclaimed and great with a sword. She wants to be a hunter of Artemis. Annabeth is a close friend of hers, and is like an older sister.
Also, campers have been disappearing from Camp Half-Blood. Camp Jupiter was "shut down" (you'll learn why later) and the campers know that something big and bad will happen soon.
Thanks for reading!
"It's getting worse. We can't ignore it any longer." The grim words coming from Annabeth's mouth sent shivers down Laurel's spine.
She crouched lower, pressing her ear against the door. The words became clearer.
"Well, if people are, like, disappearing, why can't we just find them?"
Laurel almost smiled. Connor always found ways to make the worst things seem relaxed and chill, just like him.
Silena spoke next. "It's not that easy. Less campers means people need to find them, but because they're missing, we don't have a lot of people to search for them."
"Does your shallow brain get that?" Clarisse growled.
"Clarisse, could you stop? This is serious." Annabeth said.
"Has anyone thought up any ideas?" Chiron's deep voice was steady and sure, a comfort to Laurel. At least someone knew what to do.
"Do we even know who's behind it all? I mean, we can't do anything until we know who or what we're up against." That was Percy.
Percy's right, Laurel thought. Who are we fighting?
"I better get going," Silena spoke up. "My cabin wants news."
"Yeah, we'll go to," Travis said.
Laurel heard the scraping sound of chairs being pushed out, and hurried to get away from the door. No one could know that she'd been eavesdropping. She'd be in big trouble for sure, and then they might find out about…it.
Ducking into the bathroom, Laurel felt more worried than before. Camp Half-Blood was in trouble, and there wasn't much anyone could do about it.
