Author: My favorite line of Twilight is when Edward refers to himself as the lion and Bella was the lamb. I just love it. I was in the car listening to Deathbed today and this part of that song sounded right for them. So here it is, just a little random outtake from Breaking Dawn.
You cried wolf
The tears they soaked your fur
The blood dripped from your fangs
You said, "What have I done?"
You loved that lamb
With every sinful bone
And there you wept alone – Deathbed: Relient K
Lion and the Lamb
He had convinced everyone that he would never hurt her. How could he? Bella was his world. His life. She was his reason for existence. She completed him the way nothing else could.
It was plain to see. Everyone noticed the intimate way in which they reacted around each other. He would shift positions, and she would move to accommodate him. She spiraled around him, and he spiraled around her. It was a never-ending cycle.
He remembered when she had stopped breathing. Even though his heart hadn't beat for longer than a century, it carved a deep pain within his chest. He didn't know if he was going to be able to save her. Edward didn't know if he could.
All that mattered was he WANTED to.
So he shoved the needle into her heart. He pushed the venom into her system, even as he dropped the needle and started to bite her. He could taste her blood. He felt it enter his mouth. He finally tasted his heroin, and it didn't matter.
It would never matter if she died.
When he pulled away, his topaz eyes were full of a tangible pain. She was barely breathing, but her heart was pumping. Slowly. He didn't know what else to do.
Edward sat down at her side, taking her hand in his. He could still taste her blood in his mouth. It was unpleasant.
If vampires could weep, he would have.
The lion would cry over the destruction of the lamb.
