Caroline Bingley was sitting in her room.

In her hand was a letter from her brother. A letter that had dashed all her hopes. The letter brought news of marriage. Her Mr Darcy... he was going to marry Elizabeth Bennet. She could not believe this! All these years, she had secretly hoped that he might love her back. That he might offer to marry her. That he might admire her. Since the day she had laid her eyes on him, she had been attracted to him. Initially, she dismissed her feelings as a simple crush, but the more she knew him, the more she adored him. Everything he did radiated his gentlemanly nature.

She had done everything she could to earn his love, his attention. But she had failed miserably. She knew she looked like a jealous woman eager to share his money, but she was not interested in money at all. She would have loved him if he didn't have a penny! She simply could not help her behavior. Her love made her do it. When he came in her presence, she could feel her heart thumping wildly and on the rare occasion when he started a conversation with her, she could scarcely breathe.

She had tried to make her brother marry Ms Darcy in hopes that Mr Darcy would marry her. But that didn't work. Charles was to marry Jane Bennet. He had mentioned that in the letter too. Surprising though it was, she was happy about this. Jane was right for her brother. She loved him as he deserved to be loved. She was disgusted at herself for trying to keep them separate. They were obviously meant to marry each other. At least someone had their love with them for evermore. She would have to sort out her life herself.

Apparently even loving him was wrong now. He belonged to another. Now she could not even hope. She had seen his obvious interest in her but she had never dreamt that this would happen. She had hoped that Mr Darcy's pride would not allow him to marry Elizabeth. But she had been so so foolish!

She suddenly recalled what she had been like before she met him. Happier. At peace. Till he came along. They got along for a week. Then one day, she realized she was falling for him. She ignored it, but this realization seemed to change her life. She was no longer a happy carefree cheerful woman! Why did she have to meet him at all?

Ten days later

Caroline was, once again sitting in her room. She had resolved to forget Mr Darcy forever. No matter what, she would be brave. But today, when she saw him with his wife, she could not stay calm. She had excused herself and rushed to her room. A tear trickled down her face. How could she do this?

Her brother suddenly burst into the room.

'Caroline! What is the meaning of all this?'

She hastily wiped her face and looked at him.

'Meaning of what Charles?'

'You know what I mean! Why are you acting oddly?'

Caroline had decided to be brave but a sob escaped her.

'Caroline. What is it? You know I want to help. We used to be so close. You know you can trust me.'

'I loved him.'

'Who, my dear?'

'Mr Darcy.'

'Goodness! He is a married man, you realize that don't you?'

'Yes.'

By now Caroline was crying freely.

'How could you fall in love with married man? You can't ever have him!'

'He wasn't married when I fell for him.'

'Oh my goodness! All those years... you loves him?'

Caroline nodded.

Charles was shocked. His sister had changed a lot since she had met Mr Darcy, but he had assumed that she was simply growing into a woman. He had never realized his sister's feelings. He moved forward and embraced her.

For hours, he sat with his sister, comforting her, promising to help her get over it, saying that she would find the right man for her someday. Finally, when Caroline had composed herself, he left her to wash her face and join them when she felt up to it.

A/N- I wanted to write something about the most hated Pride and Prejudice character, that put her in quite a different light. Review and tell me what you think!
