Okay, here's another wonderful short story. It was shorter than I'd like, but I've had to deal with a lot of crap these past few days.
"Mello, you know how much I value your opinion, right?" asked the redhead, his fingers hovering over the buttons of the hand held game console as he looked up at his blonde partner from the floor. The man narrowed his eyes at him and snapped off another piece of chocolate, one leg over the arm of the couch.
"Yeah... What do you want?" he asked suspiciously, licking at the edge of the chocolate bar. "If you're gonna ask me something stupid, I swear I'll set fire to every one of your games."
Matt shook his head slowly and turned off the device, slipping it into the pocket of his vest. "No, no. This isn't a stupid question. It's actually quite serious. So serious it even surprised me with it's seriousity."
"Matt, seriousity isn't a word. Just ask the question and get on with it." he rolled his eyes, noting that his partner put away his game. Matt never put away a game unless he had something very serious on his mind, a fact that Mello was well aware of.
"I just want you to answer me honestly, and not just an answer to please me. I need your thoughts on this matter." the redhead explained, striking a match and holding it up to the cigarette between his lips until it lit. "So, will you tell me the truth?"
Mello once again licked the edge of the broken piece of chocolate almost contemplatively and tilted his head slightly, pondering what sort of question he'd ask. "I guess I can do that much for you. Ask away, stripes." Matt gave him a slight nod and hoisted himself up onto the couch, sitting next to him as he yanked his goggles off his head.
Damn it, he thought to himself, looking into his partner's emerald eyes warily. Matt took a long drag of the smoke and blew it out into the air, earning himself a look from Mello who had forbidden him to smoke in the house after setting fire to the couch. He must be needing something to calm him down.
"Mello... Mihael..." he began, lightly biting the end of his cigarette in an almost nervous way. He took a deep breath before continuing. "Which is better, Gannondorf or Bowser?" he asked, his nervous demeanour being replaced with his usual smartass grin.
Mello's eyes narrowed and he growled softly, punching the redhead in the arm. It was all an act, Matt was just trying to rile him up. Well, he'll be paying for it tonight.
