He found it. The small thing that could possibly change my life forever, and her 7 month old son found it. How did she not notice it? Had it always been so obvious? Why couldn't she see the signs?
Disclaimer: I DO NOT OWN ANY PART OF GILMORE GIRLS. EVERY THING BELONGS TO AMY-SHERMAN PALLADINO.
Rory Gilmore-Huntzberger had the life of her dreams. She had a doting husband, Logan, who cared for her every need, and two perfect children. Ava who was a spitfire of energy at the age of 3 years old, and her precious baby boy, Blake, who was her little butterbean at the tender age of 7 months.
Rory and Logan were the 'power couple' as Rory's grandmother had once called them. They both worked alongside his father Mitchum who had come to know and like Rory much more than when they had first started going out. They were known at the newspaper for their intriguing stories and hard work. However, since Rory had gotten pregnant the second time, she had cut back in order to help prepare and spend more time with Ava.
She still continued writing but did it on her own time at home to prevent missing out on family time or stressing out about a full-time job. Then one day while writing one late night, she felt the familiar rush of water landing at her feet. She frantically called for Logan and paged her mother and stepfather to come while Ava was still asleep. Her husband broke speed limits to get her to the hospital in time. She delivered a perfectly healthy baby boy, Blake Richard after several grueling hours of labor.
Five months later while she was nursing her baby, she was contemplating once again how lucky she was when she felt a painful jerk at her breast bringing her back to reality. Looking down at her son, she realized that he was nowhere near the area that startled her, but nonetheless said to him, "Stop hurting Mama." He smiled at her and started to giggle before she shushed him as to not wake up his sister who was taking her nap.
That night when the kids were in bed, she rolled over on her side to look at her husband watching TV oblivious to her staring for several minutes.
"What?" he asked,
"I was just thinking," she paused, "I haven't been feeling well the past few days, and then today when I was feeding Blake, there was this pain, totally on the inside, and I got kind of worried so I felt around and I think I found a lump."
"Are you sure?" Logan asked trying to digest this.
"Not positive, but I made an appointment with the doctor to double-check," Rory replied.
"I'm coming with you," Logan said decisively.
"You don't have to," Rory stated.
"You're not asking me, Ace. I'm your husband, and we'll handle these things together. Now when is your appointment?" Logan said.
"Tomorrow at 11." Rory responded.
"That's perfect. What are the kids going to do?" Logan asked.
"I already called my mom today, and she's going to let them sleepover in Stars Hollow with her and Luke to give us a night off." Rory said pleased.
"Ava won't know what to do with herself," Logan chuckled.
"I know, she's so excited," Rory said wistfully.
Sensing some sadness, Logan spoke up saying, "Ace, we're not going to worry about anything until we have to, okay. Now lay down, and try to get some sleep," Logan ordered.
She curled up and pressed herself to Logan's side. His arm snaked around her, and she felt content. But, she couldn't shake the feeling that something was not right.
