"No one ever said that life was fair and I'm not saying that it should be
So knowing that you are where you want to be and I'm not comes as no surprise
But don't expect me to be happy for you
And don't smile at me and tell me things will work out for me too"

-Alesana "Congratulations, I Hate You"

Bittersweet memories from long ago places

in times that are lost now

(to her, but never to you.)

Lost, but not forgotten

(they wouldn't hurt so much

if you could just forget them.)

The temporary unofficial union

between two opposites

and, looking back, you should've known

that nothing good would come from it.

But what can you say?

You were both broken from the war

and found those missing pieces

within each other.

She had Fred's sense humor

you had her lost brother's way of reasoning

&neither of you knew the line

s/e/p/a/r/a/t/i/n/g

wrong and right

(you lost it all during that night in the castle.)

x

Those kisses shared were

light years away from empty.

They meant something to you both

at the time.

Those moments when you were

too weary&broken&done

to even stand

she held you up.

Those moments when she had

given up every last ounce of hope

you whispered those strengthening words.

You patched up one another

but it was only temporary.

The end was always near

even at the start

&neither you nor she tried to deny it.

No promising words were spoken.

No talk of the future.

All that had mattered was

then&there

and when it was over

it would be almost as if

it had never even existed

(or, that's how it was supposed it go.)

x

The end dawned on you

(a little sooner than you had wished)

in the form of

mousy brown.

With a slight smile

she wove a promise telling you how

she knew you'd be happy

someday, some time

&left.

x

Maybe she was right

but it doesn't feel that way

(not then, not now, not ever.)

You're dealing with burns&fire&emptiness

while she's rocking a baby to sleep

(it doesn't really seem fair, now does it?)

You can't help but wish

that the end had never come

because at least you were some sort of happy

back then.

The threads she used to piece together

your worn&torn heart

are s-n-a-p-p-i-n-g

&you can't help but wish that

she would come back to sew it up again

with the soothing mixture of

Fred's wry grin and gentle caresses.

But she won't return

and you don't really expect her to

(you're not that selfish or naïve)

because that part of her life was

temporary

even if the memories last

forever.

The lyrics at the top belong to the band "Alesana."

This pairing, Charlie/Tracey, has never been done before! It was discovered by me and is now a part of Mew and Mor's Weird Pairings. Please give a mention if you use them, thanks. For more M&MWPs, check out my C2 and come visit&chat on my forum.

:D

Urghh, poor Charlie! I'm sorry Charlie - I couldn't give you a happy ending 'cause, well, you belong with Bellatrix!

Thanks mew for betaing!
