AFTER FANG…

"Nooo…!" she screamed.
But I couldn't do a damn thing about it. I was helpless. Yeah, right: Mr. Tall, Dark, and Mysterious, helpless… never. But it was the truth.
A real, agonizing truth.
I held the knife. My hand was shaking.
I had no other choice.
And as I brought my hand down, I heard faint applause midst a blood-coiling scream behind me.
Her scream. Her voice.
I wished, at that moment, that I hadn't made the impossible, yet inevitable, decisions that I had, that had led me here, to this moment. I wished that it could be as perfect as it was the day I left her.
But it couldn't. And I couldn't do anything about that, either.
I had lost my faith in God, completely. My wishes were probably utterly unheard and incoherent to Him.
I didn't dare look down at the pool of blood below me. I wouldn't be able to stand it. Nor would I be able to tolerate looking at the form from which the blood had flowed. And stopped.
They then released her from her binding chains, quite to my surprise, and I fell to my knees. I knew I wouldn't be able to meet her eyes.
She ran to me, throwing her arms around me. She clung to me. I wrapped my arms around her, tightly, and held on. It was the bare minimum I could manage.
"It's… it's okay," I stumbled, in attempt of consolation, but stopped suddenly.
I was overcome by the irony of that statement. Everything was not okay, definitely not okay.
I had let her down. The girl I had loved and whom I would always love. I left her and shattered her, regardless of the truth that I had sold my soul in the process. And more than that, I had just killed my own—
That thought was cut off as someone in a white lab coat pried Max's fingers from my back.
Before words of protest came, I felt a sharp object unexpectedly enter my arm.
The last thing I felt was the coolness of Max's silent tears that had soaked my tight shirt… before everything went black.
Love it, hate it, say what u want about it... plz review....!
