This is a prize oneshot for Azlea for winning my naming contest!
This ties in to Tech Support (kind of).
Disclaimer: Supai and Malcolm are mine, but that's it.
Kida burst into Mikado's classroom about halfway through the lunch period. The two boys were supposed to eat on the roof with Anri that day, but Mikado hadn't come up, so Kida had come to fetch the dark-haired boy. The blond found his friend talking to one of his classmates, a boy with brown hair and sharp black eyes.
"Mikado!" Kida exclaimed. "You're late!" his friend looked up sheepishly.
"Oh, sorry. I was talking," he said unnecessarily. He turned to the other boy. "This is Masaomi Kida." The boy smiled.
"I know," he said cheerfully. "I'm Supai Orihara." Kida blinked and glanced at Mikado.
"Nice to meet you," the blond said uncertainly. "Mikado? You coming?" His friend nodded, then followed him out of the room with a wave to Supai. Once they were out of earshot, Kida asked, "So why were you talking to that guy anyway? He's boring. Never does anything, even though he's Izaya's cousin." Mikado blinked. Normally, Kida would be full of rumors about how any given student was involved in something dark. But this kid…Izaya Orihara's cousin, no less…was boring?
"Hey…isn't he the guy who was with the teacher who calmed down Shizuo?" Mikado remembered.
"Yeah, but he's just friends with her brother, the emotionless Malcolm Yuuki. Now there's an interesting guy. I've heard he's some sort of modern bounty hunter or something. I bet he's with the yakuza. Malcolm Yuuki's probably a hit man for them!" Kida exclaimed. Then he glanced over his shoulder in the direction of the classroom. "But Supai Orihara? He just reads and scribbles and messes with bits of paper. He's harmless, not like his cousin at all."
Mikado shrugged, outwardly dismissing Supai's apparent boring tendancies, but inwardly wondering if maybe those papers he was always reading and scribbling on were important.
"Anyway, Anri's waiting for us. Let's go," Kida urged. Mikado followed him to the roof, passing a boy with brown hair and brown eyes with a permanently blank expression on his face.
Malcolm Yuuki entered Supai's classroom and walked over to his friend's desk, where several short stacks of papers sat. Supai was sitting in his chair, looking over another paper and making quick notes occasionally.
"Hey," Supai greeted him without looking up. "I'm almost done organizing the information you wanted."
"Okay. Deadline for the bounty is midnight tonight. I'll have a confirmation for you to file by eleven," the emotionless boy replied.
"Great. Hey, did you hear? That technician is moving to Ikebukuro soon," Supai told him, making a final note before putting the paper in the largest stack.
"I know. Heiwajima finally convinced her. Will you take the job on her?" Anyone else would have sounded curious. Malcolm just sounded a bit like a robot.
"Of course. Any time my dear cousin can't get information himself and has to go through me, I'm going to go with it so I can rub his nose in it," Supai replied with a grin. Malcolm's lips twitched upward just the slightest bit.
"Just checking."
"I know. Did you already eat?" When Malcolm nodded, Supai made a face and pulled out his own lunch. "Of course you did." He set his lunch on his desk, then handed Malcolm the largest stack of papers – which wasn't much, just ten sheets. Malcolm took them and began looking them over while Supai turned his attention to his food.
