For him, it was another night spent lying awake underneath the covers. The culprit of his insomnia was another nightmare, just like all the others he's had. There was nothing but barren desert around him, and for some reason he would find himself running, but never escaping the white sands. He would always jolt awake covered in a cold sweat, while the woman sleeping beside him remained naïve to the inner turmoil of his mind.

He had spent much of his time on earth with her and her companions, and yet there laid this emptiness within him. It was true that he loved the woman next to him, but he still could not understand the purpose of his life, and what it meant to simply be. He was happy yes, but not entirely content. To what extent could he stop feeling like he didn't belong and just start to feel like a normal human.

Her body was gradually emanating a soft warmth that calmed the more sinister demons within his heart, but the gradual rhythms of said organ were still an unfamiliar feeling within him. The soft glow of the moonlight fell beside his lover, and her bright auburn hair was lit like a flame. He shuffled slightly around the bed, and gazed at her soft skin. The was a slight rose tint to her cheeks and her thick eyelashes batted ever so slightly. He held her soft hands in his, which were a bit rough with callous.

This woman, his woman was so delicate, and so pure. She seemed so frail asleep next to him, yet he knew truly just how strong she was inside. They were like yin and yang really. Her fiery hair contrasted with his dark ebony tresses, and her star-lit eyes were stark against his emerald green. She was bubbly and always kind while he was stoic and preferred to be alone when she wasn't around. They were polar opposites he thought to himself, and yet, here, lying next to him was the only person in the world who could bring him some peace of mind. Snapping from his thoughts, he noticed her mumbling something incoherent in her sleep and shifting closer to him.

The warmth was gradually increasing to a fever within his chest, but it was more reassuring than uncomfortable. He was alive, and his demons were gone banished for the moment. It was calm within their home, and the night was still peaceful and quiet. Sunrise wouldn't be for a few more hours. His grip around the woman tightened and he fell into a deep sleep, the first he's had in months. Yes, he would continue on living in her world, and perhaps he might never truly fit in, but for now, he has enough reason to be happy, and that was enough to bring him peace.
