Disclaimer: I don't own Harry Potter

Massie Cheney sat in her kitchen late one Thursday night in a small town in Romania enduring a large bout of homesickness. Her thoughts were on how dearly she missed her mother's cooking as she stared at the small charred and black steak sitting on the plate in front of her. Mama would have known how to do it, and certainly wouldn't have burned it.

As she was thinking about downing her burnt chicken with a nice glass of red wine, a swift crack was heard, and she immediately pulled her wand out from behind her ear, where she normally kept it for easy access. She crept around the corner of her apartment and leaped out; hoping to surprise her opponent when she froze in her tracks.

There stood Charlie Weasley, one of her best friends. His longish bright red hair was rumpled, as if he'd by sleeping all day but she knew better because his blue eyes were red and bloodshot, his eyelids fighting to stay open. The most prominent thing was the tears running down his pale cheeks. She had seen Charlie take beatings from a full grown Chinese Fireball and he'd never cried then.

A ball of frozen fear dropped into her stomach.

"Charlie? ... What-?" She whispered, tucking her wand away and stepping towards him.

He hurled himself at her, and a sob echoed through her empty living room. She wrapped her long arms around the man, and buried her face in his chest, pulling him onto her couch. He bent towards her, burying his face in her long brown hair.

"She's gone. Holly's gone."

She swore under my breath. That no good bitch, she knew she'd never be good enough for her Charlie. No, she scolded herself; he's not your Charlie. Well, she could dream couldn't she?
