Disclaimer: I do not own Veronica Mars in any way, shape, or form.
They gaze longingly across the room, both wanting to gravitate to the other, but knowing that's not going to happen. They are bound by their pride, their egos, by old chains they still haven't broken. She doesn't trust and he is only half a person. He can heal her wounds and she would complete him if they tried. But no matter what the facts are they remain at a standstill.
Yet here they are at this inevitable crossroads. Here they choose where they're going for the rest of their lives. Together or apart they still have to face another day. They both know that and they quietly accept it. It's not as if yelling and screaming will do anything...or change anything for that matter.
You'd think that after everything they've been through that they would've gained some kind of wisdom, some kind of common sense, but they're still as ignorant as ever. They don't know if it will work out, if they'll end up back at the beginning. They don't trust fate, but all they have is now, and right now they own each other.
She's nervous. She doesn't understand how one person can evoke so much within her and not hurt her. She only knows pain and this joy is so...so beautiful, she knows, or thinks she does, that good things only last so long before they sour and she doesn't want to fall deeper and hurt more. She figures it's better to hurt a little now than to die inside later. She's survived that pain once, but she doubts she can do it again...a heart can only take so much before it shatters irreparably.
She wishes their timing was better, that they didn't end up here so quickly...but at this point she knows that wishing is useless. Wishing didn't bring Lilly back and wishing won't help her decide what she should do with Logan.
He knows her, knows that this is killing her inside. He hates that she has to chose...again. First friends or family, now, him or Duncan. He knows that she has to choose and that fate owes him a whole hell of alot more than Donut. He already lost his frist love (Lilly), but he can't lose his true love (Veronica). A soul knows it's mate and if his soul mate leaves him...he won't be half a person...no he'll be much worse off. He'll be a shell doomed to continue this life without everything that means anything.
He knows that she's tremendously damaged, but he doesn't care. He wants her just the way she is. In fact, he wouldn't have her any other way. Any other way wouldn't be his Veronica. ANd if she wasn't HIS Veronica he wouldn't love her like he does, he wouldn't think of her every waking moment, he wouldn't need her like the air he breathes. HIS Veronica is vital to his survival.
THey both are starting to realize that they can't just walk away from this, like everything else in their lives it'll follow them, determine who they are. They've made an impact on eachother's lives and...somehow defrosted eachother's frozen hearts. THey can't leave each other. They know that now. They need eachother..and that's why when they see eachother again, facing their choices, they'll look deep into eachother's eyes and say, "I choose you."
