Sirius woke up and looked at his clock. He was late. Very late.
"Shit!" he cried, and immediately looked for some robes to put on. He couldn't find any clean ones.
"I'm gonna kill them for not waking me up," he muttered as he pulled on his least smelly ones. As he did up the last clasp, he had a revelation. It was Saturday. He pulled off his robes and on some jeans. He decided he was going to wear a t-shirt Remus had given him. It had some muggle band called the 'Beatles' on it. Sirius set off for the Great Hall.
Along the way, he spotted a familiar redhead turning the corner. "Lily, wait up!" The redhead turned and waited for Sirius to catch up.
"Hey Sirius!" she said with a perky smile.
"Hey. Wanna walk down to the Hall together?"
"Sure."
"Let's go, then."
"You look good in that shirt," Lily told Sirius.
"I can't tell you how much that means to me," he replied. Lily laughed. "No really," continued Sirius, "I can't. James would castrate me."
Lily gave him an odd look. "Are you trying to say that you have feelings for me?"
"Absolutely not," Sirius said firmly. They stared at one another as they walked for a moment.
"Okay," Lily said finally.
"So why aren't you with James?" he asked.
''Well, actually, I just got up, like you."
''Who says I just got up?" asked Sirius indignantly. Lily just gave him a look.
"Fine, fine. But I can't believe you just got up! Aren't you supposed to be the responsible one?"
Lily looked shifty. "James and I were up late last night doing homework."
Sirius snorted derisively. "'Homework?' Whatever you say, Lily. Why didn't James get up so late then?"
Lily shrugged. "He's one of those people who doesn't need very much sleep. But surely you know that from living in the same dorm with him?"
"Oh. Yeah, I suppose," replied Sirius, a little chagrined.
