Hero

"Gregory House, will you marry me?"

Wilson's words not only took him completely off-guard, they made him shudder. He'd never witnessed any of Wilson's many proposals but if they all went like this, no wonder no one said no. Wilson was like a super hero, Proposal!Wilson, always an emergency wedding band at hand, just in case. To rescue the needy and unmarried. House smirked at the image of Wilson wrestling the shiny band on his finger, explosions, smoke and fire all around them, evil singles snarling, closing in on them. Then he looks deep into House's wide eyes laying a hand on his rapidly rising and falling chest and kisses him with fervor. He picks him up and shoots off into the fiery night air with him, carrying him into his eyrie, or whatever flying super heroes use as a home.

And House enjoyed Wilson's visible twitch when he suddenly barked,

"Yes! Give me the ring!"

"What?!"

"I. said. yes! Now, give me the ring!" He loved Wilson's utterly stunted, dumbfounded expression, reaching slowly into his pocket, retrieving the little box and handing it to House, mouth open, never looking away. He unceremoniously yanked open the lid, tore out the silver band and put it on his ring finger. Surprisingly it fit. He tossed the box back at Wilson, staring at him challengingly, holding out his hand for him to see, wriggling his fingers, the band shining.

Wilson was still paralyzed, it seemed, but then his lower lip slowly pursed and his expression became pensive, eyes narrowing, head inclining slightly. Then he simply nodded once, determined.

When they made it home, they slept together, House wearing the ring.
