Author's note
Basically, the idea of this fanfic came from watching Prometheus and Insidious. All of the characters here belong to me and the setting is still in the Assassin's Creed universe, but in a far future.

A magnificent view of space itself could be seen from the window of Kseniya, the scientific vessel. But there was one thing that stood out.

It was a planet, a moon to be precise. The size of it, when compared to other three more moons, it was the largest. After all, it as the only moon that was able to sustain life.

Standing at the Observation Deck, was the Nobel Prize-winning astrophysicist. Her name was Alistair Miles. Her blue-colored eyes gazed at the moons and the gigantic gas planet they were orbiting around.

"Icarus" said Alistair, softly, and to herself.

She just named the moon that bloomed with life with a name of a man from the Greek mythology. She put a smile onto her face as she observed Icarus with great interest. "Could this be the place where it all began?" Alistair asked herself with this question from time to time during the timeline of the mission itself.

She touched her soft black short hair and stroked it. Thinking was what she always enjoyed doing, especially when there was a sight to die for in front of her face. The deck was filled with silence, only a continuous low humming of the machine and the beeping sounds of the holographic display showing the ship's whereabouts.

"Desmond, please go wake the rest of the crew and tell them we've arrived."

A male voice could be heard from the ship's main audio outputs. It was the AI of the ship.

"Yes, Dr. Miles. I will do that. In the meantime, would you like me to prepare the meal for all of you?"

"That'd be great." Alistair put another smile onto her face.

"By the way, Dr. Miles. Happy New Year."

"Happy New Year to you as well, Desmond."

The whole deck was quiet once more. Alistair decided to sat down, her gaze still fixed at the Icarus and its family. It was like she was in pure bliss. It was a paradise for her. And there was also a high chance that she would get another Nobel Prize after she returned to Earth.

But that wasn't why she came here for. It was curiosity that drove her. It was what had been taking her to places unknown and undiscovered. She owed a lot to it. And there wouldn't be any single moment that she wanted to not have curiosities.

Alistair smiled to herself, and, mostly importantly; to mankind itself.

She stepped out of the room and into the empty hallway. The almost-quiet beeping sounds of the computer resonated the hallway. Looking left and right, she let out a sigh to relief. But she was also excited to tell her crew about the fact that they've reached their destination as well.

As Alistair's presence was no longer in the hallway, silence slowly crept out from the darkness. An almost-quiet creaking noise filled in the hallway. And there, in the darkness, an elongated black-colored arm reached out from the dark. It was like it was reaching for Alistair.

The arm went back into the darkness of the ship and the creaking sound was no longer there.
