A/N: Tag to turmoil. When I saw Olivia and Elliot ripping Alex a new one I just had to write something on it. Please rate and review.

"She accused me of sacrificing a rape victim to save myself!" Alex Cabot exclaimed in utter disbelief. She was pacing her office, stylish heels clicking against the floor with every angry, calculated step.

"They act as thought this is my entire fault. I am so sick of them getting away with everything! They even blame me for Cragen being suspended, then has the audacity to request another ADA for Special victims. Can you believe that?" She all but yelled.

George Huang sat there and watched his friend rant. Once he saw the question hurled at him wasn't rhetorical he looked up. Her whole body was rigid with tension, eyes ablaze with anger, but despite it all she still looked like her put together professional self.

"I don't like it but yes I do believe it." He answered, his voice its steady calm. It grounded her, made her forget her anger momentarily.

"Believe me; I've had my fair share of….disagreements with them." George smiled ruefully at her, clearly remembering those times. Her anger flared again.

"They have no right! You're simply trying to help them." Alex exclaimed.

"Yes, but my job can be annoying for all involved sometimes." He admitted. She looked at him, not sure how to respond.

"Look Alex…"

"No George." Alex interrupted. She knew that tone. It was usually followed by that look, then that insightful lecture. She didn't want him to shrink her. She wanted a friend to vent to.

"Can you not be a psychiatrist right now?" She was border-line whining and she knew it but she was too pissed off to care.

"Okay should I try being a firefighter then?"

"Don't be cute." She chided, removing her glasses and tiredly rubbing her eyes. He didn't ignore the gesture, in fact he analyzed it as much as he tried not to. Alex would verbally maul him if she'd noticed. Thankfully, she didn't.

"They can be a bit reckless at times." He amended.

"George they are completely irresponsible and rely on Cragen to always clean up their messes. It's infuriating. No wonder they go through so many ADAs. Honestly, I don't know why I don't quit right now."

Her raw emotions were finally being exposed. Under all that anger, all that frustration, there was something else. Something only a handful of people had seen from the Alexandra Cabot before.

Hurt.

"You want to quit because you trusted them but they don't trust you. They hurt you. That's why you're so angry." He said softly. Removing himself from the chair he approached the silent ADA. He studied her facial expression for any recognition. She just looked at him.

"You're a great ADA and we're lucky to have you." He tried.

She offered him a bitter, humorless laugh that made him slightly worried. "Is that why they refer to me as Ice Queen?"

He remained silent. She smiled callously at him.

"They don't want me George. Why should I stay?" She looked directly in his eyes as she said it.

"Because I'll miss you." It sounded childish to his own ears but it did get her to smile. A real smile, not one of those sad ones he gave her earlier.

They just stood there for a moment smiling reassuringly at the other. She broke their connection first, glancing at the clock and taking into account the late hour and feeling a sense of guilt at keeping her friend at work so late.

"Dinner?" He asked, reading her mind. She nodded yes and he moved to grab her coat before helping her in to it.

"Honestly George I don't know why you put up with me sometimes." Alex commented as they moved to the door. He beat her to it and held it open for her like a true gentleman before replying.

"Because with you gone who would I vent to?"

A/N: Sometimes I think they need to cut Alex some slack. Anyway please review!
