At the Dot, Eli Goldworthy sat by himself, thinking about what had happened at school today. He was now working at the school paper with his ex girlfriend. What did this mean? Were they friends? Clare had needed more people, he would do anything to help Clare. He sipped his coke and nibbled his straw. He missed Clare, he wanted her back. How could he be just friends with her? '

'Hey, Eli right?'' Eli glanced up to see that blonde jock he saw around school sometimes. The one that was running the sports section. Eli nodded and nodded at the chair offering the kid a chance to sit. He took it and they sat across from one another. He was silent, then he reached into his jeans pocket and pulled out some photos ''My names KC Guthrie I want to show you something''.

Never having spoken to this kid, Eli wondered what he could possibly show him. he handed Eli a picture, on it he saw a younger KC, and a younger Clare. The two were holding hands, they were leaning close to one another. They had dated? Why hadn't Clare said anything? She was his ex now though, so it didn't even matter. ''I can't say I regret what happened between us''. Kc was saying. ''I could never make her happy we were always fighting''. he sighed looking sad. ''I just wish I hadn't hurt Clare the way I did''. he paused and looked into Eli's eyes. ''We were toxic, but it took Clare getting hurt, for me to realize it''. Eli nodded, Every one knew what he'd done, to Imogen and Clare. ''It just wasn't the right time for me to have a girl friend''. Eli nodded again. ''Eli, you make her happy, she smiles at you like she never did with me''.

''So what happened between you two?'' Eli asked, voicing what was on his mind. Kc sighed and looked at his hands. Then a smile creeped onto his face.

''It all started when she dropped her books'''. He chuckled. ''I was just trying to be helpful, but the second I saw those eyes...'' Eli chuckled as well, did she have that effect on ALL the boys she dated? His face fell. ''I met Jenna, that's all there is too it''. So he'd dumped Clare for Jenna? How could he do that? ''Then I cheated off her on a test''.

''When she began dating you I was worried, I still care for Clare, but then I realized how happy she was''. Eli liked to see Clare happy too, even if it was with Jake. ''Eli, you make her smile like I can't, Like that Jake kid couldn't, Don't give up on her, you two will be together again, I know it''. He clapped Eli on the Shoulder and the two of them stood up. ''You deserve her Eli''. Eli shook his head.

''Nobody does.'' KC laughed.

''I agree with you on that, but you're as close as it gets''. Eli felt grateful, coming from Clare's first boyfriend, that meant a lot. He had known Clare before Eli did, and Eli was sure things would work out for KC one day. Eli said so and KC smiled.

''One day, I hope to get my son back''. He admitted. ''I love him so much, Jenna loves but she avoids him, his adopted parents are surprised its me, the Dad who keeps in contact with Tyson''. Teen Dads like KC were rare, Eli respected him for loving his son so much. Needless to say, the two boys you would think would clash, got along really well. They had one thing in common: Clare.

They had both messed up with her, and both cared about her. But the difference was KC thought he and Clare would make it. Eli hoped he was right. They bid one another goodbye, and as they walked away, both thought of the memories they had with Clare, the fights, the kisses, the teasing everything they had shared with her. The only Difference being, Eli intended to make more.
