The first time he kisses her is when she's lying in his arms and smiling at him with blood on her lips and bruises down her body.

"I thought you had died." He says, tears choking his throat and wetting her cheeks.

(His too - but right now it's all about her, her, her.)

"Don't be stupid, Senpai." She smiles - winces (just because the hole was gone didn't mean everything else had been healed) - and breathes out slowly. "I can't observe you if I'm dead."

"Yeah," he replies, and the world stills before he's leaning down, down, down, places a kiss to her cheek and then his forehead rests on hers -

and he's breathing her in, in, in.

Her pulse, her skin, her blood, her breath, her -

Everything.

"Don't do that again, please." He whispers, running his fingers through her hair - dark as ink and softer than anything he's ever felt before. "It really scared the hell out of me."

"I'm sorry Senpai." She murmurs, tugging on the sleeve of his jacket.

"You're okay," he says, and he smiles, smiles, smiles because she's broken and bleeding and her clothes are ripped but she's -

Alive. Breathing.

Okay.

And he is too.
