The Most Wonderful Time of the Year
…It is now! L and Sunako's first Christmas together
Yuki was with Machiko.
Ranmaru was at his family's dinner party.
Takenaga had gone to have dinner with Noi and her family.
Kyouhei had gotten an odd job again delivering alcohol.
Sunako Nakahara finished decorating the parlor with red, green, and white candles.
The only light was the candles, on the banister and the table. The fireplace roared with the yellow glow of the fire. The Christmas lights shone just as dully, casting an eerie glow around the parlor.
Someone knocked on the door and Sunako went to open it.
"Ryu-san, get in here before you're seen!"
"What?" he stepped inside, shedding his winter trench coat, "I thought you got rid of everyone?"
"I did," Sunako said, closing the door. "But you don't know our neighbors…"
"Good point," he said. "Are they that bad?"
"When you live with four bishonen, you get used to snoops," was her only explanation. But it was quite valid.
She led him to the dining room and they ate (Ryu-san usually didn't eat the food she was good at making, but he had agreed to make the effort. After three months of eating her cooking, he was rather tolerant).
Once they finished, they went to watch Nightmare before Christmas in the parlor.
"Wow! You really did a good job here," he said, looking around the parlor. He sat on the couch and pulled Sunako onto his lap. "You should be an ulterior decorator."
"I'm training to become a house wife," she reminded him. "Cooking, cleaning, decorating…they go together."
"I'm lucky then," he said, kissing her cheek. "You're fantastic, Sunako-chan." He kissed her lips.
"What's this? What's this?"
"L, behave yourself," Sunako lectured lightly.
"No," he kissed her again. "I don't want to. Not tonight. That's all I ever do; behaving."
"I doubt that," Sunako muttered. "I find it hard to believe that the World Famous Detective L ever behaves all the time. I did meet Aiber and Wedy, remember."
"How could I forget," L said, "Stupid Conman."
Sunako readjusted her position next to him and pulled the blanket down over them. "Not his fault, you weren't being as stealthy as you ought to have been."
A few minutes passed in which they watched the movie in silence. While the credits rolled, L captured her lips again.
"I love you," she said between kisses.
"As do I, Beautiful."
