Someone Else

"Yes...."
She rolls her hips and arches her back.
His mouth finds the chords of her throat, his tongue plays an outlawed rhythm.
His hands find the glorious skin of her naked back under cotton.
It's a verboten game of secrets and lies. A need of pleasure and comfort.
She gyrates faster, harder against his groin. Her head falls to his shoulder, her teeth digging into his neck.
"Summer..." he says and then his body trembles.
She shudders against him.
"I'm sorry." He shakes his head and lets go of her.
He dresses without looking up. He can see the pain in her huge blue eyes every time he does.
Her flesh is a warm pink from the after affects of arousal. She gives him a sad wave and a terse smile.
He leaves.
It's all he can do not to apologize again. And he knows that would hurt her even more.
----
She watches him from across the room, a gleam in his eye and a smirk on his full lips. It's not for her. No, it never was.
She's not the sun that sets in his heart, she's just the whore that he came to when he couldn't find peace. She gave it to him.
She took from him too. When her life was in shambles and her soul mixed with self-doubt, he showed her how beautiful she could be. He taught her sensual. Played into her carnal needs when she had to feel alive. Brought her ions of rolling peaks. Brought her back to herself.
They were supposed to be thinking of other people. She knew he was. She never could. She thought it was okay, as long as he didn't know. But he found out and she knew he saw the hurt in her eyes when he called out someone else's name.
She notices the turtleneck he's sporting and knows that under it is the half moon shape of her teeth. He covers it up, just like he covers up their trysts.
And she knows, as she watches him with Summer, that it was the last time. He won't be back. He won't ever take her to that place again where the moon meets the earth and their bodies connect like stars aligned.
They won't meet in secret and he won't tongue away her tears and she won't stroke away his insecurities. She tries to wipe the taste of him from her mouth with vodka. He remains. A potent reminder of what doesn't belong to her.
She was supposed to be thinking about someone else.
