A modern Alegaesia
I thought that Christopher Paolini's ending of the inheritance series was insufficient so I wrote this as a replacement. This is my first fanfiction so please tell me what you think of it.
It was an ordinary in the city of Ilirea, cars drove by, and people went to and fro. Occasionally, if the people looked towards the sky they would spot the occasional dragon flying high in the sky. At the centre of the city there was a monument dedicated to Eragon; who had saved the world from the clutches of Galboratorix so many years before. In front of the statue a cloaked man stood; deep in thought.
"It's amazing, isn't it huh" the man's thoughts were pierced by the young girl's voice.
"What do you mean?"
"The fact that such a great man, who saved the world from Galboratorix and left Alegaesia so soon afterwards is still alive, somewhere out there is amazing of course"
The man stared at her, dumbfounded. This only encouraged her to continue talking.
"It also makes you wonder how aware he was of what was going on in Alegaesia after he left"
"What do you mean?" the man asked, repeating himself
"Whether he knew that the love between Natsuada and Murtagh began to blossom after his departure and that it eventually became so great that Natsuada forced everyone to acknowledge Murtagh so that they could be together. Whether he knew that eventually Natsuada herself became a dragon rider and that once she felt that she had been queen for long enough she and Murtagh left Alegaesia along with their dragons. Whether he knew that Arya became an amazing queen who ruled fairly and justly. That sort of thing. But still you look like you want to be alone and I'm probably annoying you so I'll be going now, but who knows, maybe our paths shall cross again." The girl left as quickly as she had arrived.
The man smiled.
It's amazing how much Alegaesia has changed in the last few hundred years isn't it Saphira.
It is Eragon, it is…
