Elements: Redemption
Chapter 1: It's come to this
I looked around at the pure chaos that surrounded me and my family, wondering if there are any other options.
"Are you sure about this, Glass?"
I looked down at my son, Glasswing, a young Pegasus with a light sky-blue coat and a pale blonde mane and tail. He has grown up in strange circumstances, what with all my misadventures. One in particular is why I'm here now, why I need to use this spell. This spell will undo all that my friends and I have done over these 6 years. That would cause Glasswing to cease to exist.
"Father, I know what this will do, but if it means saving everypony, I have to do it. You have to do it. Mother is who you should be worrying about." Glasswing said in his deceptively mature way of speaking. I looked over to Fluttershy, my wife and Glasswing's mother, and realized that she looked even calmer than Glass.
"Fluttershy, you know that if I do this, it means that we… will never have happened. There has to be some other way around it, some angle we haven't thought of, some other—"
Fluttershy covered my mouth with her hoof, stifling my panicked, rambling words.
"Sil, I want you to calm down. I have an idea. When the spell is finished, look for me—*I mean, if that's okay with you…* so that we can restore what this spell took away." Fluttershy said in her sweet little voice. I held up her head by her chin and kissed her. "Ok, I will find you. I'm looking forward to falling in love with you again." I whispered.
"So, you'll do it?" Glasswing said.
"You guys are right, I have to do this. But before I do, I just want you to know… I love you both more than anything in the world. And I swear to Celestia's sun in the sky, I will find you!" I said, fighting back the lump in my throat.
"I love you too." said Glass and Fluttershy, almost simultaneously.
Damn it, I can't leave them! But I have to… It's come to this… I thought.
My horn glowed with blue energy as I began to cast the spell. A white light appeared around me, and just before it blinded me, I could make out Glasswing mouth a phrase to me. "Thank you." he mouthed, a look of peace cloaked upon his face.
And then…nothing.
End chapter 1
So, what do you think? This chapter was a bit depressing, but I think it was good. And no, you're not gonna find out what this super-catastrophe is until MUUUUUUUUUCH later on in the story.
Goodnight, everypony.
