Ch 1: Enter the Cat

"Inuyasha, can't we take a little break?" Kagome whined, "My feet hurt and I'm hungry. Let's stop and eat some lunch." Miroku, Sango, and Shippo nodded in agreement, their stomachs growling loudly.

"No way Kagome! How do you expect us to find Naraku if we have to stop and take a break every five minutes!" Inuyasha turned to Kagome, frustrated. "Now stop whining and hurry up." Kagome took a deep breath, her hands clenched into fists at her sides.

"SIT BOY!" "OWW!"

With that Kagome went on, leaving Inuyasha in the dirt. The others followed and sat on the blanket Kagome had spread out under a tree. She handed them food she had brought back from her century. They began to eat, completely ignoring Inuyasha's groans of pain.

"Don't be mad, I only did that to get you to stop and take a break," Kagome told Inuyasha sternly. "Well, you didn't have to tell me to 'sit'…" Inuyasha muttered, sitting in the tree that was shading the others. He came over there a little while before, silently fuming, and climbed into the tree. He wanted the others to hurry up so they could get back to searching for Naraku. Suddenly he heard a rustling in the bushes near the others and stiffened, preparing for what was watching them.

"That sure smells good….Can I have some?" Kagome jumped at the sound, wondering who had spoken. Miroku and Sango looked around, trying to find the source. Everyone stood up, Shippo beside Kagome's leg with a sucker in his mouth. Jumping down from the tree, Inuyasha pulled out his Tetsusaiga and stood on the other side of Kagome. "Who are you- Show yourself!"

Nothing could be heard except the wind whistling through the leaves. The silence was interrupted with a scream as a figure jumped out of the bushes and grabbed on to Kagome. "Get your hands off her you filthy…" Inuyasha lowered his sword. "…demon?"

"Cat demon, to be exact!" The cat demon hugged Kagome, smiling cheerfully. She looked around, spying the brightly colored blanket and the food near it. "That looks yummy!" She let go of Kagome and grabbed a bag of chips, plopping down on the blanket. Miroku and Sango walked over to Inuyasha and Kagome, who were staring at the strange demon.

"Who is this cat demon?" Miroku questioned. She was trying to open the chip bag, and failing miserably. "I don't know," Sango replied, turning to Inuyasha. "…But she seems harmless enough."

"Harmless my ass…It's probably just a plot to get the sacred jewel shards…"

"Stupid….damn….how the hell do I open this!" The cat demon threw the bag down in defeat, laying facedown on the blanket, her stomach rumbling hungrily. "So….hungry…"

"I don't think she's that dangerous…"

"This is great! Thanks so much Kagome!" The cat demon was sitting on the blanket with the others, slurping up noodles.

"So," began Miroku, trying to figure out this strange demon, "Who are you and why are you here?" She looked up from her noodles, grinning. "I'm me!" She went back to eating her noodles with one eye closed and one eye open, waiting for someone else to speak. Inuyasha blew his top, unable to hold his anger any longer.

"He means what's your name!….stupid cat…."

"The name's Kirina…and I'm searching for Naraku."
