How could I be so blind?

When the funeral was over and the graveyard was quiet, a hooded figure slowly walked up to the pure white gravestone. In golden letters the name of his beloved was engraved, Amelia Wil Tesla De Seyruun, our beloved princess and friend, Go in Peace.
Tears formed in his eyes as he read the words on the stone. He cursed himself for being so stupid. How could he just walk out on her when she needed him the most?
Because of this damn cure I lost you forever!
He knelt before the stone and touched it with his hand. The tears fell freely now as he pulled out the letter he had written for her.
He remembered a few days ago when he first had heard the news. Princess Amelia of Seyruun had been killed by a mazoku. As soon as he had heard the news he rushed of off to Seyruun. He just couldn` t believe it, she couldn` t be dead.
But it was true. The whole city was in deep sorrow over the lost of the princess. At the palace Prince Phil was more dead then alive himself. His sweet young daughter was gone forever.
As Zelgadis sat by the gravestone he unfolded the letter he had written to her and placed it with a delicate blood red rose by the stone. He got to his feet. Then he bends to kiss the top of the gravestone and with a whisper Please forgive me he walks away.
The letter Zelgadis wrote to Amelia:
My dreams were filled with your face last night. And every other night as well. Your raven black hair and your shiny blue eyes, this feeling I know will never go away. Why couldn` t I bring myself to tell you while you were still here?
Now my life is empty and dark without your sunshine in my life. Your smile and your laugh how I will always keep them in my heart. But most of all I remember your love. Why didn` t I tell you when you were still here?
How could I be so blind? You were always there for me and I pushed you away thinking that I didn` t feel anything for you. How wrong I was and now it` s too late. The words I wanted to say for so long. I love you Amelia.
