'Once upon a time, there was a beautiful princess captured by an evil sorcerer. She prayed and prayed for someone to rescue her. And as if the gods themselves granted her wish, a gallant knight heard her plea and went to her aid…'
She honestly can't remember anything from her past. Not even a bit. Her memory, before she was found by Lord Alvis, is foggy, even at her best. Whenever she tried to remember she would feel like she was drowning in a sea of darkness, consuming her person with fear and anguish. It terrifies her so much she often ends up shaking in fear on her bed. Thus after a few futile attempts she decides her past must be a horrible one, too horrible to cause such a reaction within her subconscious.
She isn't worried though. She has a new life, a new path to walk on. Her amnesia must be a blessing in disguise for she is able to have a chance of happiness now. Living in Velthomer feels like a dream to her. A beautiful dream. Here, people are so kind to her, the children adore her and there is Lord Alvis… the man who saved her life. He takes her unconscious, amnesiac self to his home, nurses her back to health and shows her unconditional kindness. He makes her happy and she is forever grateful of him.
So when he offers himself to be her knight and asks her hand in marriage, she feels she finally finds her "happily ever after." With a smile, she reaches for his hand and says yes.
'The brave knight marched into the evil sorcerer's lair on his white steed and brandished his shining sword over his head to strike down the said sorcerer. With one swift move the knight pierced into the heart of evil with his sword, saving the princess once and for all…'
"Look at this man, Diadora! This is the son of the man who killed your father! Today, I shall avenge him for your sake!"
She is unable to tear her eyes away from the image of the fire. A bright flame that surrounds the blue, blue knight, burning him alive, forever imprinted in her mind. The world becomes blurry to her and she feels faint. She should be happy that justice has been done, her father is finally avenged, yet all she feels are despair and emptiness and hopelessness.
The world has turned cold and she has no idea why. She does not understand why she cannot stop crying.
'And then they live happily ever after.'
Watching the knight fall down to the ground -dead-, for some reason, she feels that her fairy tale is over.
This is the end of her dream.
Able to control neither grief nor comprehension for the reason behind it, she merely close her eyes and weeps silently.
AN: Oosawa manga is honestly a great source of inspiration, even though I still prefer Fujimori manga. Anyway, the story is a bit jumbled and perhaps not really making any sense. I will justify it by saying Diadora's mind isn't always the most logical, understandable mind in the world with her forced amnesia and such. So it's not like this is my writing skills' fault or whatever. *shifty eyes*
Alright, aside from the lame excuses, the idea behind this story is kind of cliché. It's a theory of mine that despite what Manfloy did to her memory, deep inside her heart she still remembers Sigurd and the love she holds for him. But I suppose the process of erasing her memory is probably leaving her with a mental scar, making her scared to even try to remember. And then there is Alvis, I don't think you would be able to think much about your missing past if you have a hot guy (literally and figuratively) in Alvis caliber by your side, trying to romance the hell out of you.
