This is my first Portal story. Short opening chapter so I can prove to myself I can get it started! Just as a warning, I haven't written any mature stories before (roleplayed, not written) so bear with me~ Reviews are loved but not needed!
She was sick of it, sick and tired of running his goddamned tests just so he could get his disgusting satisfaction from them. If somebody had informed Chell that she would be stood teamed with GLaDOS as a potato jammed on the end of her portal gun against Wheatley in her old body, she would have laughed in their face and walked away, but here she was. And there HE was, again. Goddamnit, couldn't he just give her a moment's rest? She was sat on the floor outside one of the chambers, the portal gun sat next to her as she tried to catch her breath. GLaDOS had been surprisingly gentle concerning Chell's needs as a human and she'd let her sit down without whining at her until Wheatley had appeared on the screen.
"Uh, hello! What are you doing out here? Is the lift broken or something? …Nope, it's telling me that it's perfectly dandy! Why don't you just…hop on in, and we can carry on testing?" he flickered onto the screens around the lift area, looking at Chell cheerfully.
Chell glared back at him and turned away as best as she could, pulling the Portal Gun into her lap. She daren't leave it anywhere lest /he/ took it. That was all he was now, she couldn't think of him by his old name because this wasn't Wheatley, this was something a lot more sinister.
Finally, she gathered what was left of her dignity, strength and courage, stepping into the lift again. It headed up, ready for her to do the next test chamber.
She would find her way to him somehow and she would find her old friend. She had to. He was all she had in this stupid place – GLaDOS didn't exactly count as her friend.
