Because I believe that one Brooke likes Gale/Johanna.

Happy New Year's, my friend!

Write about someone remembering the past.

.

"I hate you."

"Why, exactly?"

"You have so many people that at love you. You have so many people that you love."

"I don't really know you…"

"My doctor says I shouldn't censor my thoughts. It's part of my therapy."

.

Johanna stares at the ceiling of her hospital room.

Too much water. Am I in the capitol? Are the peacekeepers going to electrocute me again?

"You have a visitor, Soldier Mason."

Johanna glares at the tall, olive-skinned boy. She has no reason to hate him, but she still does.

"Here to torture me, gorgeous?" she asks. Gale shakes his head and grins.

Smiles are hard to come by in the capitol.

"I want to know how to be a warrior." He says, staring at her with steely gray eyes.

Johanna doesn't have any other way of filling her time, so she tells him.

.

It's too real.

The eight kids who died at the mercy of her axe stare at her with cold, unforgiving eyes. She will never forget them. Remembering has become a chore and a commodity for her.

By the time she's done, Johanna's face is covered in tears (real) and sadness (not real). Gale doesn't know what to do or what to say, so he just tries to hug her.

Remembering has weakened the woman with the axe. She can't fight him off.

Nor does she want to. The embrace is like pain relief. Warding off the past.

.

Johanna waits. And waits. And stares. And sighs. She wants the olive-skinned boy again. She wants he strong, callused hands. She remembers the hug, the comfort, the warmth.

She just wants Gale.

And when she sees him, it's as if the two have known each other for years. Johanna smirks and gives Gale her 'You better kiss me before I kill you' look (not that she really has one).

So Gale kisses her.

And it's better pain relief than morphling.
