A.N. Howdy, you guys! I've noticed that most of the FF for this book is either about Zane's POV, Zane and Danica hating each other. Zane and Danica still in war. Blah blah blah. As for me? I like Zane and Danica fluff! Danica isn't in this fic, but it's fluffy. It's one of my favorite parts that Danica was too naive and stupid to not notice! So here ya goes. Zane may be a smidge OOC, but maybe you can look past it? Come on, for me?

Enjoy! I really hope you do!

Disclaimer: I'm just too legit to quit. I'm not, however, too legit to own Hawksong.

Jealous

"I don't want to hear it, Adelina!" Zane yelled. After his chat with Danica, Zane went to the two guards/culprits. Ailbhe and Adelina. His anger had been squelched with Danica, but here with his two guards? Uh uh.

"But Zane! How the hell were we supposed to know she was coming? It's not like you told us before hand."

"But she came alone. She came unarmed," Zane argued back. Why was she so furious?

"But still she came!" Adelina yelled back. Ailbhe stood in uncomfortableness. He figured this wasn't so much about Danica, but about Zane and Adelina's relationship. He was about to turn and leave when Adelina had made that universal girl sound.

"Ugh! Zane, what do you expect? You didn't warn us, and we could only assume she was here to ambush – "

"By herself?!"

" – us, and here you are yelling at us for doing our job!"

"Adelina...I'm sorry," Zane sighed, just giving up. The anger wasn't entirely gone, but Ailbhe could see that his tiredness was masking it.

And so the couple made up. Ailbhe didn't need to be there for that, so he turned to leave fer real this time.

"Not yet, Ailbhe. I need to talk to you." Zane looked to Adelina. "Alone."

Adelina nodded, but it was a confused nod. She left, though.

"So, Ailbhe. You searched her." Zane started.

Ailbhe was startled by the question. "Yes sir."

"How thorough?" Zane asked.

"As thorough as I could get without taking off her clothes."

"Mmm hmmm. I would suggest that, for the future, you stand clear of Ms. Shardae."

"Sir?" Why was Zane asking this?

"I'm just asking such since, you know, her kind isn't comfortable with touching. And you practically man handled her, Ailbhe."

"Sir, no, I – "

Zane held up a hand. "Just for the future."

"Yes sir."

Zane nodded, and he sighed a soft sight that he thought Ailbhe hadn't heard. But he had. And he hear a sigh of...relief?

The viper smirked. He turned to leave fer real this time. "Sir?" He said at the door.

"Hmm?" Zane mumbled, distracted. Deep in thought, Sir? About what, Sir?

"As searches go, I'd say that any man would have the right to be jealous of me."

Zane smirked. "Indeed, Ailbhe. Indeed."
