Thea stood in the dark alley, waiting for someone to come.
"Where is she?" Thea wondered. It was raining and even though she had three layers on, Thea was beginning to get cold.
Suddenly a figure appeared at the end of the alley.
"Blaise." Thea breathed, in relief.
"How are you, sister?" Blaise replied.
Thea couldn't contain her enthusiasm and as a result ran into Blaise's arms.
She had a grin on her face.
"I'm fine, but how are you? It's been so long."
"Yes it has. I'm fine, the convent is... interesting." Blaise had a sinister smile on her face.
"Same old Blaise." Thea muttered.
"Enough about me, what about you?"
"Eric and I-" There was a crash, and then a scream and yelling.
Thea gasped.
"Go!" Blaise shouted.
Thea turned and ran. She didn't know what she was running from or why she was running from it. Thea had a good idea of what it was though, it was Aunt Ursula. Blaise had told Thea that before she escaped to meet Thea she was in a bad mood. Usually she is very proper and logical but when she's mad she goes hysterical. Finding Blaise in a dark alley was suspicious enough but finding her with Thea (who was supposed to have forgotten about Night World and being a witch) was bad enough. Thea ran through the rain. It splattered her face. She turned the corner and saw the light of the van. She climbed in, soaking wet.
"What happened?" Eric asked.
"Aunt Ursula, I think." Thea said breathlessly.
Eric looked at her. He realized that not only was her face covered with rained drops but tears as well. He pulled her close.
"Please don't cry." he pleaded.
"But Blaise, she seemed miserable. She was hiding it but..." She mumbled into Eric's shirt. She pulled back.
"I'm getting you soaked."
"I don't mind."
He pulled her in for a kiss.
When they separated Thea murmured "Eric."
"Hmm." Eric replied.
"Thank you, for caring." Thea said.
Eric smiled. They drove back to their apartment in silence because at this point in time they spending their spring break in Los Vegas.
When they got to their apartment Thea collapsed on the bed in exhaustion.
"Blaise hasn't changed at all." Thea thought. "She acts like nothing's changed."
Eric sat on the bed and stroked her hair.
"Everything used to seem so simple. I was a young witch casting spells. A Night Person. I was very content with life until I met Eric. At first I felt weird about him. But then I learned that we were soul mates. Then I almost got both of us killed. Blaise saved us from losing our memory of Night World. Shouldn't I be happy?" Thea looked up at Eric. Their eyes met. Thea was lost in his. Surrounded by color, light and love. Thea, still in the soul mate trance pulled his mouth down to hers. As their lips met, a voice in the back of her head spoke, quietly and softly. Thea wasn't listening. You see, the soul mate principle is the idea that everyone has someone they're meant to be with forever. When soul mates touch they go into a sort of trance filled with color, light, and their soul mates. That's all they can think about. How much they love each other.
You could say that someone with a soul mate is literally love sick. The love never dies.
Night World law says that Night People can't fall in love with humans and if they do both the human and the Night Person are supposed to die.
"Long lasting love." Thea whispered into Eric's ear.
He nodded into her hair and he pulled her in for another kiss.
