"Ladies and gentlemen, this is your captain speaking. On behalf of all of our flight crew we'd like to thank you for choosing to fly with us today. We should be arriving in New York around 3 PM local time. The weather looks perfect, so please sit back and enjoy your flight."
Anna looked to the empty seat beside her and wished she had someone to talk to. All the money in the world couldn't buy her happiness. Here she was, flying first to 'THE' City. But sorrow was her only companion.
She had watched as her parents walked out the front door of their Houston mansion for the last time, killed in cold blood by a disgruntled employee at a charity gala later that night. Now she was moving in with her sister, Elsa, who'd been sent to boarding school for no apparent reason five years ago. She didn't even know her sister that well, she wished she did, but truth be told Elsa was an enigma. An enigma, in a conundrum, in a… Something.
Who was she fooling with her big words, she was orphaned, and 18, and now… Hopelessly rich… Scratch that, just hopeless.
"Sweetie? You okay?"
Anna snapped from her mental palace to see the face of a concerned lady flight attendant.
"Mhmm." Anna replied, but her face betrayed her. She could see her vision cloud, and a single tear fall from her eye.
GREAT! Now she was going to cry in front of the entire plane.
The stewardess gently bent down to Anna's level, and gave her a tissue.
"It'll be okay honey, cheer up you're headed to the city of dreams."
Dreams? Anna thought, or would this be the beginning of a bigger nightmare?
