He clung to the casing that housed the Declaration, hindering her from tossing it over her shoulder. He gave her a look he meant to be hesitant and mistrusting, but with his inability to bluff, he knew it came across as more amused than anything.

She smiled, her face lighting up. He couldn't help but grin as her smile lit up the room. He could almost imagine seeing this smile every day, maybe even as the first sight of his day.

"I'm not going anywhere," she assured him.

He let her have the Declaration.

It was something he was glad to hear, and not just because he needed the document just a little longer.
