Three Blondes And A Soccer Ball

G

Lilly, Veronica, Madison

Note: A lot of people think Madison has always hated Veronica. I beg to differ.

Summary: Madison met Veronica first.

Madison met Veronica before Lilly did. No one seemed to remember that six years later, but Madison remembers it well.

It was the first practice of the season for the Ladybug's, Neptune's own girl soccer league. Madison remembers when Veronica showed up with her mom and dad and how all the adults stopped paying any attention to the kids to make nice with the new sheriff.

Madison remembers Veronica sliding out of her father's grasp and making her way over to Madison, who was closest to the sidelines.

"Growups always want to talk to my dad when he takes me anywhere, but I still think he's boring." She said, smiling at Madison.

Madison remembers agreeing with Veronica. "My dad does that a lot too. He likes to get on the phone and talk for hours, so I can't call anyone else."

"Dads are funny." Veronica replied, staring at the soccer ball at Madison's feet. "Hey, do you want to—"

"Oh, my God! You must be Veronica!" Another girl with slightly longer hair than Madison ran up to the two girls. "I'm Lilly. My dad has been talking about your dad ever since he was elected sheriff. Where are you from? You're not from LA, right?" Lilly fired question after question.

As Veronica tried to answer the girl's questions as fast as she could, she looked at Madison and widened her eyes as if to say 'help me!'. Veronica never liked it when people made a big deal out her but everyone in Neptune seemed to think she was important. Before Madison could interrupt and save Veronica from Lilly's endless questions, Lilly grabbed Veronica's arm and started pulling her to the other side of the field. "Come meet my brother and his friend! They've been wondering about you too!"

Before Veronica, Lilly had been Madison's best friend and Madison had been Lilly's best friend, but soon after that first day at soccer practice, you'd be hard pressed to find any of the girls without the other two in tow.

The girl carried the name the Three Musketeers right through high school, but when Lilly was a freshman she told Madison and Veronica no one had stupid nicknames anymore. Besides, they were all part of the 09ers, which wasn't a stupid nickname since everyone used it.

When Lilly died, Madison cried for days. Big, huge, loud sobs. As loud as she possibly could. Veronica wouldn't answer her phone and Madison's parents didn't really want to talk about what happened, so Madison just cried all by herself.

When she saw Veronica for the first time after Lilly's death at the funeral, she was angry. She was angry that her only true friend wouldn't answer the phone, wouldn't return her emails or even look at her during the church service so when people started talking about how Veronica's dad was investigating the wrong guy, Madison was quick to agree. Madison was quick to make fun of Veronica and her family.

Madison was quick to promise herself she'd never be friends with Veronica Mars again.
