Texting Has Never Been So Complicated

Yay!

What did he say?

That's cool.

Annie bit her lip in contemplation. Shirley had just texted her stating in all caps that Britta proclaimed she loved Jeff. Annie knew that to get a text from Shirley was like getting a miracle from Jesus. So in Annie's case not very likely. She sighed and laid back in her bed. She had to respond soon before it took her too long and more words would be expected.

The first option is what the Annie from the beginning of the year would say. So happy that Shirley was right. That the world did follow Shirley's rulebook and so Jeff and Britta would be together with a marriage and a litter of blond haired children in the near future. Which meant that Troy and her would actually be going somewhere in their relationship. But that Annie didn't really exist anymore, and that Jeff never existed.

The second one would just be cruel. She knew what Jeff said or more importantly didn't say, knew that Britta was left at the Tranny Dance with only Slater left as her partner in the love triangle. She couldn't bring that up. She didn't rejoice in what was the subsequent of Britta 'losing'. But that was just it, it wasn't a game. Jeff wasn't a prize.

The third option she supposed was her only choice. She would sound a bit detached but better that than too involved in the situation. She did feel guilty for lying. Guilty for probably putting her friendship with Britta in peril. But for tonight, she wouldn't be that Annie either. A swift knock on her door made her look up. Jeff stood there taking up all the space her doorway had to offer.

"Come in." She smiled up at him before quickly tapping in the third option but her finger wavered over the send button.

"Hey the movie's all set up are you ready?" Then he gave her a smile, it was lopsided, goofy, and not at all meant to be charming. It turned her into goo.

"Yeah just give me a moment." Quickly she pushed send on the third message, left her phone on the bed as she got up, and walked towards Jeff.

"I'm sorry did I ruin your blast from Gossip Girl?" He asked sarcastically as he followed her down stairs to her living room.

"You have no idea." Giggling she marched on allowing herself one night. One night to just be Annie with Jeff.
