This story is canon to my Renesmee's Saga, it can be read as a separate story though. The story goes a little like this; Renee found out she was pregnant and didn't want Phil to find out as he didn't want children of his own, so Bella agreed to let Renee stay with her until the baby was born and then Carlisle and Esme adopted Christiana.

Prologue
The first thing I thought as I stepped off the plane into New York (The state, not the city) was that it had an air of mysteriousness about the place. I had never been out of Washington, so today was a big day for me.
Today was the day we were finally out of Washington, we had moved to a small town, much like Forks called Saranac which was only around 50 miles from lake Champlain. Right now we were in Troy, waiting for our luggage and then we would be setting off to our destination.
Most of the family had been here a few days sorting out arrangements for school and our fake IDs and birth certificates. Of course, I didn't need one of those yet, because I was still a valid member of the US and human, and I looked my age. That's the trouble with being human, I find myself a little too ordinary sometimes, like I don't really belong in their world. I may be wrong to think that, but it's true. I'm only human, they're vampires; strong, immortal, beautiful. I'm just a human.
I'm not even particularly smart, beautiful or even charming. Bella says I get my clumsiness off of her because as a human she was extremely clumsy apparently.
I had to admit I was afraid of living here, in a completely new place, going to a completely new school with completely new people; ones of which I had no prior contact with, but at least I would have my big brothers to protect me.
Emmett was like my best friend sometimes, he would always play on computer games with me; some of them I didn't even like, but I guess I liked been 'one of the boys.'
It drove Alice mad that I was a tomboy, I even had short hair that was cropped in a pixie cut, which Alice clearly disliked. She liked to make everybody her personal dolls, but I wouldn't be pushed around by my big sister. I refuse to be. I wasn't an object and I refused to be dressed like one, I preferred my hoodies and jeans to all the little dresses Alice tried dressing me in.
"Right, Chris, it's time to go. Do you have all your bags? It's a two hour drive up to Saranac, I don't want to be having to drive you back down again because you forgot a pair of socks or something." Esme, my mom, said to me with her one dimpled smile.
"I've got everything, Jeez, mom." I rolled my eyes and then I stepped forward lovingly into her arms, feeling her cool muscles relax as I hugged her as tight as I could breathing in her familiar scent that was like strawberries and lavender.
"Fine, then. Let's go. Saranac awaits us." Carlisle, my father, chuckled as he unlocked his Mercedes and climbed in. I couldn't wait to get to Saranac.
Suddenly a quote passed through my mind, and I smiled as we set off to Saranac.
"The world is a book and those who do not travel read only one page."
