Ella Martinez was a smart cookie.
And even though she was the only person who knew that, it was totally true.
So when her boyfriend argued with her about the correct pronunciation of her favorite food, things got…heated.
"Jason, that is the dumbest thing I have ever heard."
"Your mom is the dumbest thing I have ever heard. BURN!"
Ella groaned. "Wow, you're mature."
He ignored her. "You want some aloe vera cream for that burn, Ella?"
"Aha, no thanks. Can we please get back to the matter at hand, please?"
Jason sighed heavily. "Oh, all right. Contrary to YOUR belief, the matter at hand is pronounced to-mah-to."
She arched an eyebrow in response. "Actually, it's not. It's pronounced to-may-to."
"Keep on thinking that, Ells. In fact," he said, picking up his phone, "I am going to call Shane and prove you wrong."
She rolled her eyes. "Right. Because Shane is so smart."
Jason shot her a dirty look and put the phone up to his ear. "Just wait and see, Ella. Wait and see."
"Shane! Are you busy?"
Ella faintly heard his voice on the other line. "Actually, yeah. Mitchie and I are-"
Jason cut him off. "Great! I have a question for you."
"Lovely. Are you and Ella discussing how Swiss cheese got holes again?"
He frowned in response. "No. This is actually very important. You like to-mah-toes, right?"
"You mean to-may-toes?" Ella smiled in satisfaction.
Jason's face fell. "Uh, yeah. That. Thanks." He clamped his phone shut before Shane could respond.
Ella smirked at him. "So, you were saying?"
He shot her a dirty look. "Sorry, Ella."
"Pay up, boyfriend."
He groaned as he handed her a five-dollar bill. "We need to stop arguing and making bets. I'm going broke."
"Sorry, Jase. You know I love you." She smiled and intertwined her fingers with his.
Jason grinned in response. "You know, this betting thing is actually quite rewarding."
A/N: This was kind of spur of the moment, and it was written in a total of twenty minutes. Just some cute Jella fluff, written while I was trying to get rid of my writer's block for Connection. But I did, and the next installment of that story will be up tomorrow. Leave me your thoughts and review! :)
