Author's Note: Sanctuary Bingo Entry. I'm REALLY sorry but I just couldn't resist :) Having to use . as paragraph breaks due to FFnet's funky formatting
Prompt: The Foyer
It's ten at night and I'm kneeling in the foyer of the Old City Sanctuary, cleaning the floor until it sparkles. It's the punishment given to me for my actions a few days ago, when Magnus was away and we all went a little wild. The punishments are a little unfair really; after all, it so wasn't our fault we all got infected by a nasty parasite abnormal that made us go all Brady Bunch.
But Magnus still isn't seeing it that way.
She came very close to getting into big trouble over this incident, as Doctor Hottie, aka Dr Lee from the UN Security Council, had to be pretty much blackmailed into keeping quiet. The fact that she tried to kill several of us, and strung the Big Guy up in the elevator, helped the lovely Doctor make her decision though.
So, crisis averted and we all get to go back to normal, right?
Wrong, on sooo many levels!
.
While we did a quick clear up to make the place look less like a warzone than it had when Magnus had arrived, there were things that needed doing to get our home back to its preferred state. And Magnus had lots of interesting ideas on who should do what, to get the place looking ship-shape again.
So, Will ended up picking up garbage in the grounds and around the house. Everything from newspaper scraps to sweet wrappers, that's what Magnus told him and man, the dude is taking her seriously. He's still out there now, torch in one hand and a rubbish sack in the other, looking for every little item of garbage.
And Kate, she ended up with cleaning upstairs. Everything upstairs, starting with dusting every single one of the books in the library. I bet she's probably found a way to shirk off by now, but if she's taking this as seriously as me the rest of us, she may still be there, duster in hand.
The Big Guy, he got away fairly lightly, all things considered. He got feeding and "mucking out" duties, as Magnus calls it. Seems there are some enclosures which didn't get their usually cleaning while we were all getting down and deadly. So the Big guy, he gets to clean up all of them. And, all the messes which would normally have been taken care of automatically, he gets to clean those up for the next week too. Poor guy.
So, when taken in context, you could say I got the easiest of the jobs. I get to clean the foyer; make it sparkle, that's what Magnus said and that's what I'm doing. I've been at this now since about eight this morning and I'm making good headway. I'm not slacking off either; I promised I'd get this done and I'm sure as hell gonna do just that.
.
Oh great! Will just got in and it looks like it's been raining, cos he's just stomped muddy footprints all over my nice clean floor! Guess I'll just have to go back and do that bit again, later. Right now, I'm carrying on where I was, even though my limbs are numb and my joints are protesting the movements.
Scrub, scrub, scrub; just me and my little toothbrush. I'll be finished in no time.
