"You aren't supposed to be here." he said as he opened his front door. His words were slurred despite his best efforts.

"Booth what are you doing?" she asked as she pushed the door the rest of the way open and let herself inside his tiny apartment. She glanced around the room quickly noticing the almost empty bottle of rum on the coffee table.

"I'm sorry" he said softly with a look of guilt in his eyes. he hated for her to see him like this. "You weren't supposed to..."

"Booth" she said softly cutting him off and taking in his disheveled appearance what happened?

"Come on bones can't a guy have a drink?" he said with a slight smirk and a tilt of his head. Brennan noticed the way he tried to lighten the mood but she said nothing. She had never been good at being the supportive lean on me type but she knew he needed a friend. She watched him as he crossed the room and fell back onto the couch. She bit her lower lip but it only took her a minute to make up her mind and follow him. She slid into the left over space beside him and tried not to notice their knees touching.

"Thai or Chinese?" she asked taking the menus out of the drawer in the coffee table where they always kept them.

"Whatever you want Bones," he grinned "whatever you want."
