I'm getting married. It echoed throughout my brain, my best friend and lover was marrying his ex and this was the first I'd heard of it. What made it worse was that everyone else knew that they were seeing each other. Knowing this hurt more than knowing that he was cheating on me with his ex-wife. At home that night my emotions broke through my barriers and I cried like I never had before.
I didn't know how long I sat there but I eventually felt arms around my shoulders holding me as the tears slowly shook my body. Soft comforting words were whispered until I stopped shaking. It was then that I realised who it was and my body tensed which I'm sure they felt.
"I'm so sorry Sam, I shouldn't have left you. I love you so much, even more than I love her."
I stared at him not believing him but his face was so open and trusting that I had to believe him. "I smiled at him and new everything would be alright between us again.
1
