To tell you the truth, Bakura was terrified of starting his first day of Domino Elementary. Walking, Bakura clutched his mother's skirt as if it was the last thing on earth. Of course he looked and dressed differently, but he was the same as any other kid he met on the streets.
Sitting in class, he felt nervous at the stares that had suddenly been placed on him. He didn't know that a certain pair of eyes looked at him with reassurance. Recess time, Bakura walked out of the classroom timidly and missed the last step down the stairs and fell in the dirt.
Tears sprang in his eyes at the pain, a hand suddenly appeared in front of him and a voice so soft replied, " Let me help." Bakura looked up at the girl and hesitately grasped the girl's hand. He dusted himself off and clumsily wiped away his tears. When Bakura had finally calmed down, the girl made the first move and introduced herself. " Hi... my name is Tea Gardner." the girl replied. " T-Tea?" Bakura stuttered at the word.
Tea quickly looked down, embarassed. " Oooh... Tea has found herself a boyfriend!" a couple of boys replied running by. Tea's face suddenly flushed with embarassment. Bakura also looked down, embarassed. " I-I'm Bakura." Bakura said. Tea took a quick glance around to see if anybody was looking. " Will you be my friend?" Tea asked timidly. Bakura was shocked. He didn't know that he would get a friend on his very first day of school! Bakura was estatic.
Tea looked at the boy in front of her. The silence from him was killing her. ' He doesn't want to be my friend?' Tea thought worridly. " Y-You don't want to?" she asked. " Huh?" Bakura replied. Then it all sank in. " No! I mean, of course I want to be your friend. A-Absolutely." " Oh ok. So today, we are friends." Tea said. " Yes." Bakura smiled.
Everyday after that, they would always play together, even when they entered High School. Still shy as ever, both never wanted anything from each other. Just being by each other's side is all they needed. Even though they loved each other more than a friend, being together just as friends was enough. After all, being shy has it's advantages.
